Do you consider Fleetwood Mac’s 1990 album as a true “TrainWreckord”?

Do you consider Fleetwood Mac’s 1990 album as a true “TrainWreckord”?

This was the group’s first album after Lindsey Buckingham jumped ship. In Lindsey’s place, they brought Rick Vito and Billy Burnette. This album was not only significantly less successful than their last album together (Tango in the Night), but the critics were harsh on this record. However, FM is arguably more popular than ever today. That’s why I hesitate labeling it as a true “failure”.

What are some of your least favorite looks by the group? I personally hate this one.

Agnetha and Frida look like Sunday school teachers, while Björn and Benny look like members of some gang. The 80s is reeking HARD in this photo.

Best songs that just missed the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100?

“Edge of Seventeen” by Stevie Nicks peaked at No. 11.

What’s the opinion on Janet Reno as Attorney General?

She honestly seemed a hot mess, but as always, there’s nuance. I really like that she tried to make the DOJ less political and more straightforward, and the Justice Department’s antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft was a great step towards stopping the monopolization of the tech industry.

However, you can’t talk about her without mentioning the terrible mishandling of Waco. She approved an FBI assault, which caused dozens of people to die. There’s also the horrible handling of the Elian Gonzalez raid.

What are your thoughts on “Sometimes It’s a B*tch”?

This was one of the three original songs that Stevie recorded for her 1991 greatest hits album TimeSpace. While it’s definitely not as strong as her early solo work, I really enjoy it. My favorite part is the chorus.

Oddly specific trope: Female country singers attempting to do a pop crossover only for it to fail hard.

Side note: I desperately need that Twisted Angel TrainWreckord video so I can see Todd’s reaction of this album’s genre on Wikipedia.

ABBA were quite late to the disco trend when Voulez-Vous came out in April 1979. It wouldn't be fair to call this a "disco" record though, since most of it is just your standard Europop and pop rock packaged in the classic ABBA pop ribbon, with a hint of schlager in "Chiquitita" and "I Have a Dream". The only song I'd truly call disco in this record (in the standard edition, at least) is "Voulez-Vous", and even then, that feels like a stretch.

“Our Last Summer” is by far my least favorite song on Super Trouper, excluding “Sombrero”. Way too cheesy and soap opera like to really enjoy. But fuck…that guitar solo hits HARD. Probably top five best instrumental bridges in any ABBA song.

I barely see this one get talked about enough, and it sucks. It’s not an amazing song, but it’s a nice soft rock tune, and Christine provides yet another good vocal lead. I think it also makes a nice opener to Mirage.
