The amazing disappearing and reappearing battery charge

I just went out intending to do the intervals session on my Polar running plan. I had 70% charge when I set out. within 8 mins I got a low battery notification and it stopped the session. I switched to recording with Strava and completed the session. By the end of the run my Grit X Pro showed 38% battery. Deeply annoying.

Questions: how can I avoid this happening? I only charged a few days ago. I do have continuous heart rate tracking on. It auto sleeps overnight. The watch is second hand and i suppose reasonable chance it’s the battery, but is this known behaviour. Any settings I should adjust?

Also, can I import the gpx file to Polar and still get it logged With the plan? I had my watch on the whole time so had the heart rate..

New to Polar, running plan?

I‘ve just moved over to Polar ecosystem, buying a second hand Grit X Pro. and am trying to work out my options for using a plan. I have previously been using Runna on my phone and a very annoyingly inaccurate Fitbit versa 3. My aim is to bring down my 10k time. I would like to go under an hour, my most recent time is 1 hr 6 so perhaps ambitious but it was achievable in the distant past..

I don’t want to run more than 3 times a week, and I also like to have swimming and Pilates as part of my activity. I am time poor with family and full time work. I like having the structure of a plan, and am happy to have someone do that for me. I like Runna, but there isn’t integration with Polar so I wondered about using the Polar running program but can I customise it? i did a trial of it and it seemed to churn out me running 5 times a week which, no thank you. I have looked on Training Peaks plans and all of those appear to be suggesting I run 5 times a week too.

I’m new to heart rate training and that would keep me interested for a bit, but I do also like variety in the runs I do. Whats my best option here? Keep using Runna? find a way to customise Polar running program? something else?
