Recommended workout profile for pole dancing

I have both a pacer which I use for continuous heart tracking and a verity sense which is paired with the pacer, that I use while pole dancing as watches get in the way.

The closest things I can think of are gymnastics and strength training, but our warm up tends to be a mixture of cardio, stretches and strength training.

Would indoor other be the best profile? I'm not too fussed about all the calorie calculations, it's mostly heart rate stuff as I have POTS and am still learning how my body reacts to exercise.

Also for resistance training, would strength training be the best profile? When I'm not doing regular classes, I do classes that focus on conditioning and flexibility so it's mostly resistance training.

Vantage M3 has been a mess so far: bad luck or just flaky?

Context:

I was a pretty happy Polar Vantage M2 user since 2022 until one button broke and made the watch unusable. Figured I’d upgrade to the M3, paid €280, and honestly so far I’m kind of regretting it.

First and second night: no sleep tracking at all. Nothing in Flow. HR tracking is on, sleep time is set, watch fits fine, all that stuff is correct. Still nothing.

Also had Bluetooth drop my Google Pixel 9 connection twice. It was syncing fine, then just stopped like a switch got flipped.

Battery life also feels pretty meh compared to what I expected.

I’ve already done the usual stuff:

re-paired through the Polar Flow app.

restarted phone and watch.

checked permissions on the Pixel.

tried resyncing.

checked the sleep settings and strap fit.

At this point I’m wondering if I just got a bad unit, or if the M3 is actually this flaky for other people too.

Anyone else seeing this kind of nonsense?

I'm not using, nor want to use, any of the smart functions. Just multiple sports tracking (bike, run, row, fitness, swim, kayak) and good sleep tracking and an actual time on my wrist

Tried zone 2 but spent most of training on zone 3

Hi. Tried the sensor for the first time today, I liked it. I used it on recording mode and I want to keep within zone 2 for the fat burning effect.

But looking at the data, I spent most of the training ( Assault Air Bike on 197 watts) in zone 3, which is not optimal for my goal.

Could you help me pls? Should I lower the intensity? I'm 39 btw.

Thank you

Polar Loop strap alternative use.

I had a few extra leftover straps from my Loop so my Street X inherited one. Should work beautifully with any watch that takes 22 mm straps. They're also half the price of Polar's actual nylon watch strap (which may or may not be worth the price hike).

Best efforts?

Is there really no way to see my best efforts anywhere in Polar Flow? Like my best 5K, 10K, Half, Marathon, longest distance etc.

Polar flow web platform

I am thinking of getting the Loop and like others I also see the app is the major drawback. In an article released on Sept last year about the roadmap for UI redesign, Polar mention phase 1 is improving the web platform.

So, people who use the web platform regularly, have you seen improvements there since then? Does the website have better visualizations or representations of the data/workouts?

If Polar has done web platform improvements, it means they are working according to the roadmap and I can hope the app gets better in Phase 2 or 3.

I bought a Polar Loop after seeing it lose every comparison – how bad is it really?

Hey r/Polarfitness!

I just ordered a Polar Loop after seeing it discounted to €125 including shipping. I was on the fence for a long time and did watch basically every comparison there is on YouTube – all of which the Polar Loop came in last or second to last place.

My reasoning is simple – the "better" alternatives all have some dealbreakers to me. Whoop's subscription is insanely expensive. Fitbit Air's AI-first app and bad Apple Health support don't work for me. And the Amazfit Helio Strap just looks cheap and is not comfortable to wear for me.

The Polar Loop is the best looking and feeling strap of its kind, at least in my opinion. But it's also the one with the most outdated app, and the least accurate data. Since I sync data through Apple Health to other apps, and don't do tons of workouts, I hope I just won't see the Polar app very often. I also don't need precise workout tracking, just general lifestyle tracking, with somewhat useable sleep times, calories burned and heart rate throughout the day.

All things my Apple Watch can't really do, since the battery is dead by 3 pm. Will switch to a Pebble Round 2, but since that one lacks a heart rate sensor, I need a separate device for tracking HR.

So, Loop users, is the Polar Loop still so bad that you wouldn't recommend it to anyone? Or are there actually people who like it after using it for an extended period of time?

Polar Loop or patience?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been seriously considering buying the new Polar Loop, but I’m a bit unsure about whether I should buy it now or wait.

The thing is, I really prefer the Polar ecosystem, and I don’t see myself switching to another brand. WHOOP sounds great, and I can definitely see why people like it, but I simply don’t need it enough to justify paying a monthly subscription.

I’ve been reading reviews and watching videos about the Loop. From what I’ve seen, the hardware seems very capable, but many people say that Polar Flow is the weakest part of the experience. Just from reading users’ opinions, the app feels a bit underwhelming compared to WHOOP’s software and the way it presents recovery, stress, and daily insights.

What makes me hesitate is this: should I buy the Loop now and trust that Polar will continue improving the software, or would it be smarter to wait for either a major Polar Flow redesign or even a future generation of the Loop?

I genuinely believe Polar has the hardware to compete. It feels like most of the gap is in the software, and I’d love to see Polar push Flow much closer to the WHOOP experience while keeping the one-time purchase model instead of a subscription.

For those of you who already own the Loop, do you feel optimistic about Polar’s long-term software support? Or do you think what we have today is likely to remain mostly the same?

I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Upgrading my Vantage V

Ever since I’m into sports I was using a Polar device. My last update was from the V800 to the Vantage V. Even though the Vantage V is still doing a great job, I will need to update to a newer model.

Lately I was having a higher blood pressure and also some changes in heart rhythm. Thus my doctor suggested wearing a device which can detect atrial fibrillation (AFib). To my knowledge the Apple Watch is the only one, that detects AFib in the background. Garmin and Polar “only” have an ECG function. The one from Garmin is certified as a health product the one from Polar is not certified.

I don’t want smart notifications and I don’t want to charge my watch every day. So I’m more looking for
Garmin and Polar instead of Apple.

Has anyone some experience with the ECG feature from Garmin and Polar? How do they compare? And do you think waiting for Vantage V4 would make sense (I hope they will release the next one in October).

Can a beginner stay in HR zone 5 for 30 minutes, or is my default max HR far off?

Hi, so maybe a silly question and a wrong place to ask. I started running in May, before that, I never tried to continuously run for more than 15 minutes, I think. Now the longest I did was 80 minutes with very slow pace, but all my recent runs are below 40 minutes.

I was given a H10 monitor recently, I'm 24, so Polar set my max HR to 196. I tried running my hard, but not totally exhausting pace. The trend was the same across three excercises, my HR rises to 180's and stays there until I stop. For the last run, I stayed in the zone 5 for about 30 minutes, with pretty steady HR around 185. I was definitely breathing very heavily, but I felt no chest pains, feeling like I might pass out or vomit, or other worrying symptoms during the run. Max recorded HR was 191, but as stated, I was not pushing until absolute exhaustion. I sat down afterwards, and after few minutes, I was completely fine.

I started to worry that I've been pushing my heart to unhealthy limits without knowing, but now I've come to think it's not possible for me to run so close to my max HR. Or is it? And are there any methods at estimating my max HR without actually having to reach it? I've seen the field test, but I don't really want to run to absolute exhaustion.

Had my H9 for 4 weeks and I want to throw it against a wall!

Sometimes it connects and is fine. Other days it refuses to connect after trying for several minutes and I workout without it. I wash it, keep it clean, unpair/pair, wet it lightly, wet it soakly' - nothing matters. The app says that the battery was 100% on last connection. I store it with the unit disconnected from the strap. Bluetooth on my Android shows that it's paired and ready. Is there a better solution? Something that is actually reliable, accurate and just plain works? I'm ready to fire my H9!

HR average vs HR min

Hello.

This image is from a video about the Polar Verity Sense recording mode.

I assume that the average HR is what I should look for if I want to keep in zone 2, right? Or is it HR per minute?

Thank you.

I give up

Ok, I give up.

For a while, the Loop was doing well at tracking, auto and manual. It detected sleep all by itself. Provided stats and data in the app. I thought maybe they turned a corner.

Then…it stopped. This thing has not recorded sleep for weeks. Doesn’t auto-detect anything. I’ve even had to forget/pair it a couple times.

Is it worth continuing to try anything else? I’m ready to chuck it.

The amazing disappearing and reappearing battery charge

I just went out intending to do the intervals session on my Polar running plan. I had 70% charge when I set out. within 8 mins I got a low battery notification and it stopped the session. I switched to recording with Strava and completed the session. By the end of the run my Grit X Pro showed 38% battery. Deeply annoying.

Questions: how can I avoid this happening? I only charged a few days ago. I do have continuous heart rate tracking on. It auto sleeps overnight. The watch is second hand and i suppose reasonable chance it’s the battery, but is this known behaviour. Any settings I should adjust?

Also, can I import the gpx file to Polar and still get it logged With the plan? I had my watch on the whole time so had the heart rate..

GPS accuracy on Vantage M

Hey, I'm using Vantage M and I was running on a 400m track. This is the GPS map of my run:

https://preview.redd.it/l1allevedzah1.png?width=1092&format=png&auto=webp&s=705baefb80ed19f515dc452b1caa2186b41031d2

As you can see, it's not very accurate. My friends that are using Garmins do not have this issue on the same track. Of course, I know that I shouldn't pay much attention to GPS data on a track, however, these inaccuracies also happen when I'm running off track, for example in a forest. It's just easier to present them in this example.

I've tried different settings for the GPS on my watch but nothing helps.

Will replacing my watch with a newer model help with this?

Polar Street X vs alternatives?

Hi guys, I'm new to sports activities. During the year, I attended some functional / CrossFit workouts with my simple G-Shock and a separate Chinese HR monitor on my forearm. In everyday life, I'm used to wearing a traditional analog wristwatch with hands. Recently, I have added running to my daily cardio routine, but my performance is quite poor (like 6.30 for 8 km). I'm looking to improve it with a specific watch to force me to keep some pace or heart rate (it is quite uncomfortable to be looking at the phone screen on the run). Another goal is possibly to collect some data about the rest and progress. I tried to use Garmin Fenix 3 many years ago, and my experience was fairly negative - bizarre interface, a lot of hangs, wrongly calculated distances in a swimming pool, searching for satellites took a few dozen minutes on open water, etc., so now I'm thinking of Polar Street X as a product from a European company that is famous for its metrics.

My concerns (and questions) are:

  1. Is it robust enough to wear it in a gym? I mean, is there a chance to break it with a kettlebell?

  2. Does it make sense to wear such watch only during training and at night, or will I miss some crucial data?

  3. Does it really cost 250 euro? I mean, it looks like I can buy some cheap Amazfit watch for 100 euro or probably give a chance to Garmin 170 round the same price

  4. Reviews for Polar Loop (I'm still considering it as an alternative for everyday wearing in combo with amazfit watch just for running) were disappointing. Are there any crucial drawbacks for my scenario?

Thanks for the assistance
