Need advice on dealing with suspected cyberstalking, defamation, and how to gather evidence in Ireland
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from anyone with experience in cyberstalking investigations, digital forensics, or Irish law.
For some time, I have become concerned that I may be the target of cyberstalking and a coordinated campaign involving defamation and exposure of personal information. Whether my concerns ultimately prove correct or not, I want to approach the situation properly and base any action on evidence.
My biggest problem is that I currently don’t have the kind of concrete evidence that law enforcement requires.
People who have privately told me things are afraid to provide statements or share screenshots because they fear retaliation.
When I contacted the Gardaí, I was told that they would need concrete evidence before opening a criminal investigation.
I’m trying to understand:
How can someone in Ireland properly document suspected cyberstalking?
Has anyone worked with a solicitor or law firm experienced in cyber harassment, online defamation, or digital investigations?
Are there private digital forensic experts who can help collect and preserve evidence in a way that would be useful in court?
If witnesses are unwilling to come forward, what other types of evidence are usually considered useful?
Are there organizations in Ireland that support victims of cyber harassment or stalking?
I’m not looking for speculation or revenge. I simply want to understand the correct legal process, preserve evidence properly, and determine whether there is enough objective evidence to justify further action.
If anyone has gone through something similar or can recommend a solicitor, forensic expert, or organization in Ireland, I would really appreciate your advice.
Thank you.
