How I booked a rare 55,000 point business class flight to Tokyo on Aeroplan
Hey, I recently just booked this sweet 55,000 non stop business class flight from Vancouver to Tokyo on Aeroplan. I thought I’d share my booking experience.
To preface this flight was going for about $7.6k cad which puts this redemption at about 7 cpp.
Here’s exactly what I did:
I set up award alerts for YVR → NRT and SEA → NRT with a 60-day search window. I’m self-employed, so my travel dates are pretty flexible.
When I got the alert, I immediately checked Aeroplan to make sure the seat was still available.
Once I confirmed it, I linked my Amex Membership Rewards account to my Aeroplan account and transferred over 55,000 points. The transfer was quick, and booking the flight was basically the same as buying a cash ticket.
