Hi, I have a few TV series here - mostly animated shows in 720p/1080p (H.264) - and I’d like to compress them to AV1. My main priority is maximizing storage savings while maintaining acceptable quality. Is SVT-AV1-HDR the encoder of choice for this, or should I look at SVT-AV1 instead? What settings should I try out? Thanks!
I’ve always used VMAF in the past, but I realized early on that the metric couldn't meet my high-fidelity standards. That’s why I’ve been waiting for a tool like VideoMetricsLab that supports SSIMULACRA2 and Butteraugli. I’d never heard of CVVDP before now, but it seems to be the gold standard for video metrics, so I’ve been experimenting with that as well. However, that annoying screen size function is driving me crazy. I don’t want results that depend on screen size—after all, I might have a TV twice the size in ten years. :) Is there a way to use this metric without factoring in screen size? Just like the others? Or do I have to select a hypothetical 120-inch TV with a viewing distance of one meter? ;)

I’m already middle-aged and grew up listening to music from the 60s to the 80s. My own formative years were then the 90s and 2000s. At that time, I spent a lot of time in clubs that mainly played rock, indie and other alternative music. Then I started a family, had children and lost sight of music a little. I hardly went to clubs anymore and didn’t really try out new music. To be honest, I found it too much of a hassle to find good new music.
For the past few years, however, I’ve taken a keen interest in new music again and was amazed at how many good songs and albums I could find with just a little effort. The last two years alone, and even this year, have produced quite a few great songs, which I’m also collecting in playlists on Spotify. Now I’d like to make a bit of an effort to catch up on the ‘lost decade’, the 2010s, and explore that music. Overall, I feel the 2010s were the worst decade since the 1960s, but I still think I’ve missed out on a lot of good songs.
Perhaps you could help me discover these songs. I still enjoy listening to alternative rock/pop, indie and post-punk, often on the radio too (a lot of it on Absolute Radio UK).
