Why do people act like as if had the birthright citizenship decision come out differently, it would have applied retroactively?

I understand some of these comments I’ve seen are for rhetoric purposes, but I just want to confirm that had the birthright citizenship decision come out differently, it would have only applied to babies born after the effective date (February something in 2025) of the Executive Order.

Also, if in the future any legislative act overturns today’s birthright citizenship decision, it will only apply to babies born after the effective date of that legislative act. Correct me if I’m wrong.
