For reference I’m (23m) a returning cuber having not been in the game for about a decade. I recently picked the dopamine back up for the hobby and I’m looking to get new cubes. However the absolute mass of cubes and different technology on the market is extremely confusing to me I feel I’ve been away too long. Last time I cubed stickerless cubes were only just starting to get big (but were still banned, and magnets were not a thing).

My two mains are a MoYu Tanglong (my favourite rn) and an og 2015 GAN 356.

I’m looking to buy a newer cube with the newer hardware just to try it out but again I’m so out of touch it genuinely scared me when I went onto the cubicle. However I’m trying to get something that feels atleast remotely similar to either my tanglong or my 356.

For 356 obviously I’m looking at a 356 M (probably light version) and for the tanglong I’ve heard good things about the YS3M.

Also as per the lube situation I believe I have some old Maru lube lying around somewhere but again I’ve heard this is pretty outdated and leaves gunk in the cube once drying so any advice on a similar style of lube would be great!

Could anyone give me any pointers on this?

P.s. I’m around a 30-40 second solver atm on my AO5’s considering I’ve forgotten most of my OLL and PLL (takes me like 6 steps LL unless I get a lucky case that I still remember). However I topped up my Y and Z perms so I’m up to around 11 full PLL algs (10 away from full set) and I’m only two algs away from 2LOLL.
