Buying new car

Sorry for the dumb questions but it’s my first time purchasing a brand new car and need help with the process of it. Looking to order a new Toyota Corolla Cross GXL Hybrid but after speaking with a number of dealerships, wait times can take up to 6 months. Looking to finance the car via bank loan. I’m based in Melbourne.

My questions are:

• Pre-approvals: if I get a pre-approval for a bank loan now and order a new car, what happens 6 months down the track when the cars ready? What are people’s experience with this? Are banks pretty generous with extending out the pre-approval, knowing some cars can take months?

• Price: the dealership mentioned the price may change. Does anyone have experience with this and whether the price that’s available now is significantly more down the track?

Any advice would be great to hear about other experiences ordering a similar vehicle in Vic.
