Georgia attorneys: Do I potentially have a civil case here, and what statute of limitations should I be concerned about?

Location: Atlanta, Georgia. I would appreciate some general guidance from Georgia attorneys or anyone familiar with Georgia civil litigation.

About a year ago, I entered into what I believed was a legitimate business relationship and partnership with an individual. During the course of the relationship:

  • I contributed money and paid certain business expenses, including paying a third-party developer for work on a project.
  • I was involved in business development efforts and have emails, invoices, text messages, and other documentation showing my participation.
  • Over time, I felt that progress on the business became intertwined with expectations of a personal and sexual relationship.
  • I have text messages that I believe suggest that business alignment was conditioned upon meeting certain personal expectations.
  • At the time this occurred, I was on FMLA leave from work and under significant emotional stress.
  • The situation eventually contributed to severe emotional distress and depression, and I sought psychiatric treatment and was prescribed medication.

There are also messages between us that, standing alone, may appear to reflect a consensual personal relationship (for example, expressions of affection), but my position is that the personal relationship and business opportunity became intertwined in a way that felt coercive and manipulative.

I also have evidence of financial contributions and communications regarding the business.

My questions are:

  1. Based on these general facts, does this sound like a case that a Georgia attorney would even consider pursuing?
  2. What types of civil claims might potentially apply (business claims, fraud, emotional distress, etc.)?
  3. What statutes of limitation should I be aware of in Georgia for these kinds of claims?
  4. If I wait two or three years to pursue this because I am currently focused on joining the U.S. Space Force, could I lose my ability to bring certain claims?
  5. Is it generally advisable to consult with an attorney now to preserve my rights even if I don't intend to file suit immediately?
  6. Are there any major issues or weaknesses that you would immediately see from these facts?

I understand no one can provide legal advice without reviewing all of the evidence, and I'm not asking anyone to determine liability. I'm simply trying to understand whether this is something worth pursuing and what timing considerations I should be thinking about.

Thank you in advance for any insight.

Will filing a civil lawsuit affect becoming a Space Force officer?

I am currently going through the application and commissioning process to become an officer in the U.S. Space Force. I also have a potential civil lawsuit involving business disputes and emotional distress that I may pursue.

My question is: If I file a civil lawsuit as the plaintiff while going through the commissioning process, could that negatively affect my application, background investigation, or future security clearance?

I have no criminal history, and this would be a private civil matter. I'm trying to determine whether it's better to file now or wait until after I have completed the commissioning process.

Has anyone in the military, security clearance, or legal community dealt with something similar?

Will Alopecia or Stress Related Hair Thinning Be an Issue at MEPS for a Space Force Officer Applicant?

I am a 38 year old civilian pursuing a direct commission as an officer in the U.S. Space Force. I have a B.S. in Accounting and more than 15 years of experience in finance/fintech, with the last several years focused on data engineering and data analytics.

One question I have concerns MEPS and medical qualification. Over the years, I have experienced some hair thinning due to stress. I have no other underlying medical issues related to it, and it has not affected my ability to work or perform daily activities.

For anyone who has gone through MEPS, worked in recruiting, or has knowledge of the medical screening process, would traction alopecia or stress related hair thinning be something that receives additional scrutiny or could potentially impact qualification?

I am also considering a hair transplant procedure in the near future. Would it be better to complete the procedure before beginning the application process, or wait until after my application and medical evaluation are complete?

First Time Taking AFOQT at 38 with Finance Background

I recently took the AFOQT and am pursuing a commission in the US Space Force.

For background, I have 15+ years of experience in corporate finance and analytics, and I come from a military family. Military service has always been an important part of my life, so this is a goal I've been working toward for quite some time.

I studied for approximately 65 days, averaging about 300 total hours of preparation. My primary resources were the Trivium AFOQT study guide, Credential Lab Prep (https://www.reddit.com/r/airforceots/comments/1sty0pb/afoqt\_prep\_update/), and various online study materials. During my preparation, I completed 7 practice tests and consistently scored in the 80s & 90s on those exams.

Here are my AFOQT scores:

I'd appreciate any feedback from current or former Air Force/Space Force officers, especially regarding how competitive these scores are for Space Force officer selection. My letter of recommendations will be coming from a retired Major in the US Army(personal) and a Director of Data Engineering(professional).
