Meet the Emissary

Just wanted to do some high-up, buddy-buddy rear engines. Really digging the silhouette. Got to try some new part combos that were fun to explore. I'm already starting to see some ideas to riff on for my next build. Hope you like this one!

Meet the Dargoyle

The first of two twin ships that share nearly-identical silhouettes, but fly in opposite directions. The other ship still needs polishing. Hope you like this one!

Meet the Harmonia

The Harmonia's unique "tuning fork" rear-end manipulates quantum harmonics to achieve faster-than-light intergalactic travel. Hope that sounds good to you!

Hello Games has bestowed us with a variety of jets, boosters, and thrusters, yet we hunger for more and have made our own. Here are just a few of the custom engines we have made together. I will now engage in an act of arrogance and name them:

  • "Shipwright Engines, Part 1, Flying Museum" (Pic 1)
  • "The RaS Engine" (Pics 2 - 4)
    • Cost (shown): 19 parts; Cost (cheapest): 13 parts
    • Namesake: "RaS" stands for "Relevant and Serious", a la u/Relevant_Finance1927 and u/Serious_Cry_4930, because this engine is our favorite. (I asked Gemini and it said "Relevant and Serious" sounded better and had better flow than "Serious and Relevant")
    • Variants/examples: the FaO-08, the WoO-12, the Aurelius, the Luthen, Medusa's Gaze, the SoA-27, the JoU-05, the Varunastra, the Ulrich, etc.
    • AKA: the SaR, the FaO, the Varuna, the Rocket, the SoA
  • "The Trek Engine" (Pics 5 - 7)
    • Cost (shown): 12; Cost (cheapest): 10
    • Namesake: Looks like it belongs on a Star Trek ship
    • Variants/examples: the Valkyrie, the Andvari, the Sparrow, the Giola
    • AKA: None yet
  • "The Whisper Engine" (Pics 8 - 11)
    • Cost (shown): 13; Cost (cheapest): 9
    • Namesake: Looks like it is a quiet or stealthy engine
    • Variants/examples: the Bombardier, the YoA-15
    • AKA: the Mag Engine (magnetic thrust), the YoA
  • "The Praetor Engine" (Pics 12 - 13)
    • Cost (shown): 13; Cost (cheapest): 9
    • Namesake: Named after the Praetor ship, which is named after the cenobites from Magic: the Gathering.
    • Variants/examples: the Aradus, the Mosquito Hawk, the Argos
    • AKA: None yet
  • "The Bullet Engine" (Pics 14 - 15)
    • Cost (shown): 5; Cost (cheapest): 5
    • Namesake: Looks like Bullet Bill from Super Mario games
    • Variants/examples: so common that you have definitely seen them on quite a few ships
    • AKA: None Yet
  • "The Torpedo Engine" (Pic 16)
    • Cost (shown): 9; Cost (cheapest): 5
    • Namesake: Looks like a torpedo to me
    • Variants/examples: so common that you have definitely seen them on quite a few ships
    • AKA: Saturn Rockets, Missile Engine, Artillery Engine

Shout out to u/Serious_Cry_4930 for the feedback on the names.

I do not have a Part 2 planned, I just wanted to leave it open to others (cough u/Serious_Cry_4930, cough u/Talosiano, cough all of you, really) to share their engines.

Hope you enjoy this post. Let me know what you think of the names or post your own for fun!

I actually don't really like yacht-likes, but I do like exploring design spaces that don't usually spend time in. Just a break from the usual. Hope you enjoy.

This is how I start every new ship build. The colors are as follows:

  • Red = Front/Back 1/4 Offset
  • Blue = Left/Right 1/4 Offset
  • Yellow = Front/Back & Left/Right 1/4 Offset
