Do you *actually* get your baby to sleep on their back, in a bassinet/crib with nothing else?
Before I start - I know what the safe sleep guidelines are and I don't need them repeated. That being said, my daughter is almost 4 months now and she REFUSES to sleep on her back, in a bassinet or crib almost all of the time. Every once in a while I can get a small win, but otherwise - it's all contact sleep/breastsleeping. She just hit her 4 month regression and I'm really trying hard to get her to independently sleep but it is so difficult. I have tried all the tricks - slowly lower, keep body close, hand on chest, butt then back then head, warm the mattress up first, dark room, noise machine and soft nightlight, soft shhhing the entire time. I even just tried purchasing a new bassinet mattress which is probably not technically considered safe but it is still pretty firm. We've tried awake but drowsy, we've tried dead to the world asleep - this child will not have any of it. That said, she has slept on me while I danced at a loud wedding. She can sleep in her car seat or stroller. I've rolled her off me before to change my sweatshirt real quick and she seemed perfectly content to sleep on her back on my bed. My husband put her upright in her boppy for a moment once and she fell asleep. My mom was watching her and told me she put her to sleep on her stomach and that girl passed out...again, I know many of these things are not considered safe, I get that. But are people legit able to just plop their baby on their back in their bassinet/crib and then they sleep? Or is this something everyone "says" they do because they're too scared to be viewed as a bad mom? I need honest answers here - there is zero judgement on my end!
