The Grove apt lease termination

I had to withdraw from TTU this semester (fall 26) for personal and financial reasons, ie mental health (like serious mental health issues if you get what I’m saying) and I have a lease agreement with The Grove at Lubbock that began this month.

I moved back in with my parents while I figure stuff out, and I have been working on canceling my lease agreement. I am willing to pay any fees or shit that they want me too, it’s whatever, but they won’t even let me do that. They want me to find a replacement tenant for my room, and I’m sorry, who tf is going to do that less than a week before classes start?

I already paid first month’s rent, and that’s fine, but I don’t need to be paying for a place that I’m not going to be living in for the next year. It’s bullshit.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle these vultures, before I kms and blame it on them?

The Grove liability insurance

Can anyone explain how I can get my own renters insurance policy for my apartment for when I move-in in just a couple weeks? I have been in a back and forth battle with the Grove apartment complex trying to submit my proof of insurance, because they keep denying it because my liability doesn’t cover animal or water liability coverage (according to them) and that I need endorsements for animal coverage at $250,000 and water coverage at $250,000.

I have USAA, I have called them twice now explaining my predicament, and both times they have said that my policy covers what I need.

My lease agreement states I need liability coverage for at least $250,000. My policy covers $300,000. More than what I need.
I also don’t have any animals, so I really don’t know why I need animal coverage.

Anyway, can someone please explain how I can ask for these endorsements from USAA. I have tried but they seem like they have no idea what I’m talking about.
