If the government doesn't roll back on this charge of UPI. Then it basically means going back on all the progress that was made on cash-less economy.
They're saying it's only for merchants and no impact on consumers. Abbe kya dudh peete bache hai hum? Is merchant a fool who will pay extra on every transaction?
It will be just like cards. The extra tax on cards is taken from the consumer so the consumer prefer paying by cash. Similarly merchants will add that percentage and put it on the consumer. Which means consumer will start paying in cash.
This will kill UPI.
Also ye argument ki kon paise dega for the maintenance and infra of UPI? Why should the government pay for it? Abbe govt ka paisa kya ped se girta hai? That is our money. This is a govt tech build by tax payers money isme koi angel investor nahi hai jisko apne returns chahiye.
Humare paise se banaya, ab humare paise se hi maintain ho raha hai but still they want to charge us on top of that. As Ashneer said it's a new form of tax and nothing else.
