The true brotherhood of man in those lyrics feels so real, so close. It doesn't vibe like fiction. Will we see it in our lifetimes? What do you think/feel/sense/believe?
Countless movies were about the triumph of good over evil. The good guys win in the end, and all rights itself. That was part of the ritual of going to the movies back then - walking away from the movie theater, uplifted and assured that via this shared experience, we had defeated evil without lifting a finger. It was a religious experience, though none of us verbalized it. Does anyone feel betrayed by them? Reality has proven us all wrong, and it's been an abseil of an opposite reality, since 2001. Movies can no longer pacify the blaring alarm signals inside of us.
Hello, new here; had (pretty sure) a Covid infection in December, and have developed PEM that only flares up when I walk on the beach in the sand, walk a long distance on gravel, or a lengthy distance uphill. Thing is, I'm scared, because I'm in early to mid perimenopause and need to start lifting weights NOW to prevent devastating muscle loss. The fuck do I do??
I have mostly painless endo, but had laparascopy one year ago. The surgeon said it wasn't that bad. Since then, I've gotten something painful on the right side of my vaginal wall, when I (tmi) use a sex toy - it hurts. I believe i may have had this issue a year ago, because I recall asking the surgeon whether she could operate that far below. She said she wouldn't be able to go that far. Is there a specialist surgeon for such an area? How concerned should I be about the endo eating into the surrounding nerves and obliterating them, if I do nothing?
(I do take daily hormonal therapy, in the form of HRT)
How do you make these friendships work long-term? And not only that - maybe you have all the same exact attributes, capabilities, frisson, positive effect on audience & inner understanding of music that they do, without ever having had the stable and committed family life to see you through formal music lessons in childhood and adolescence, and no financial opportunities to see to it yourself in adulthood - having had to create your musical aptitude and skills in patchwork bits and pieces over the years; how does it not sting, when they keep talking of musical "accomplishments"?
I've always had beef with classical purism, because it has felt rigid and shaming to the kind of unabashed musical expression a musician needs when healing from such stuff. I firmly believe that music is such a breathtakingly potent healing force, that it should never be gatekept. The expression has to be fun, defiant, unstructured, rule-breaking. For example, I'm unable to convey how emotionally and spiritually healing Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond is to me, to my classical purist friends. In a way, they look down on me. How do you guys make such friendships work?

Hey folks, I haven't used a Mac in a minute. I have an Alexis Multimix 8 USB mixer, with Tannoy Reveal studio monitors, and I'm trying to connect them to a Mac Mini M4. I don't have a USB dock yet - I assume i should get one? Things aren't working so well, with every single Thunderbolt port using a cheap USB-C to USB-A adapter I got on Ebay /sometimes the usb keyboard stops working, etc.
Also, I was previously using this mixer with a pc, and I had the mixer plugged into the audio jack of the pc (along with the monitors using the mixer), but I can't recall why. Am I going to need to use this setup with the Mac, to get sound output through the monitors?
