Aspyn: the busiest person doing the least? And what is this relationship dynamic? 😵💫
Does anyone else find the dynamic between Aspyn, Brie and Billy really odd? Their content just feels like one long conversation about everything that’s wrong in their lives. Aspyn talks about OCD, therapy and feeling overwhelmed, then Brie talks about IVF and psoriasis, and it becomes this endless cycle of “you poor thing.” Where is the fun? Where is the enjoyment of being together? 😭
Obviously, partners should support each other, and discussing health problems isn’t inherently strange. But from what they choose to show, their relationship seems so centred on problems, reassurance and rescuing Aspyn that I struggle to see much else.
Then there’s the constant talk about how busy she is. I also have three children of similar ages, so I understand that school runs and activities take time. But the schedule she describes school, weekly therapy appointments and dance sounds like a pretty normal parenting week. Yet she presents it as completely unmanageable, despite apparently having considerable help and sharing custody.
She’ll talk about being absolutely overwhelmed, then describe a day that leaves me wondering what I’m missing. There may be plenty happening off camera, but the life she shows doesn’t really match the constant “I’m so busy, I can’t cope” commentary. 🫠
And that feeds into the relationship dynamic. Brie and Billy sometimes come across more like they’re parenting Aspyn than being her partners. She’s presented as this wounded bird who needs everyone to step in, organise things and reassure her.
Even the latest discussion about BPD left me wondering whether Aspyn is becoming increasingly focused on finding explanations for everything she feels, to the point that the search itself dominates everything.
And I wonder whether this relationship dynamic reinforces that. Aspyn comes across as the hurt, overwhelmed person who needs Bri and Billy to reassure her and pick up the pieces. But Bri seems to dwell on her own problems too, so the reassurance goes both ways without either of them really shifting the mood.
Obviously, talking about mental health isn’t the problem. It’s the constant focus on what’s wrong that feels draining to watch. Are they helping each other move forward, or just encouraging each other to dwell? Because from the outside, I do wonder whether this dynamic is making Aspyn feel more overwhelmed rather than more capable. 😵💫
