Personal Loan Fraud

A day ago, I received (4) emails re: a SoFi personal loan in the span of 34 minutes. Bear in mind that I don't have an account with SoFi. The first email thanked me for starting a personal loan application. The second requested that I verify my email address. The third confirmed that the loan application was being reviewed and the fourth confirmed that the loan was approved and awaiting signature. I've had a credit freeze with all 3 credit bureaus since 2022 and I confirmed that they are still in effect. I checked all 3 credit reports and saw no recent hard or soft inquiries nor anything from SoFi. I also placed a fraud alert so that extra steps are taken when verifying any application using my PII. I called SoFi Fraud the same day within an hour of these emails. They confirmed that there was no account bearing my name but are commencing an investigation. I filed a police report and plan to file a report with the FBI as well. I checked my Google account to assess if there's been any unknown access from devices that I don't recognize. There were none. I nonetheless changed my 34 character password that I don't share across any other account. I'm now waiting on SoFi to conclude its investigation. Curious if anyone has any thoughts/comments on this? I don't know if this was simply phishing or an instance of identity fraud. What's strange to me is that when I went to SoFi to login with my email, I reset the password, and it then asked to send a pin number to a phone number that wasn't mine (I could only see the last four). Did I receive someone else's emails by mistake?
