Just Swapped Over My DD

Heyo! I just swapped my direct deposit from Chime (do NOT recommend) and I was curious if my next paycheck (8.25.26) will be deposited there? It said it may take one or two cycles but Paycomm already shows routing there? Just curious on what the time frame was for others who switched over? Also, how does qualifying for Plus work? I deposit between 3-5k a month, will that auto qualify me? I was a Chime Prime member previously. Thanks!

I already have a smart card and I wasn’t given any notification of it being cancelled but for some reason it has disappeared from the sofi app. Any ideas or is the app just having problems today?

Should I switch from fidelity to sofi

So I have been at fidelity for a while, about 3 years. I like the platform and the CMA account is probably the best checking account I have ever had. But I also enjoy sofi and the app.

My question to y'all, can I use the sofi app in any country? Can I use the debit card in any country and get ATM fees back? Can I transfer from sofi checking to sofi invest instantly?

How is the platform vs fidelity? Has anyone come from fidelity to sofi .. let me know

SoFi keeps contacting me

I called SoFi earlier this month to let them know that I would not be able to make a credit card payment until September. The customer service agent said they would make a note of that. Since then, they have sent me letters, emails, texts and called me about this bill. Is this standard practice? It’s not like them contacting me is going to make my paycheck come any faster.

Finally Finished Paying Off Student Loans

Had some loans from med school and just finished paying it off a few years early. Was able to lock in a good interest rate a few years ago and shout out to sofi for making it easy to consolidate all my fed loans together and walking me through the process! I'm definitely thinking of planning to use them again when thinking of car/house loans in the future!

SOFI Fraud Attempt

So I was recently the victim of a SOFI fraud attempt and just wanted to get some clarity as to how much of my information was possibly exposed, and how i should proceed moving forward.

So yesterday I got a text from the number with the following message below (removed some numbers for my own peace and sanity at this point lol).

"SoFi [ XXXX ]
Did you make a purchase at **WHOP, FL for the Amount of $XX.XX on 08/17/2026? Reply YES or NO Case# XXXXX To Opt out Reply STOP."

I usually ignore these messages because oftentimes they aren't legitimate, but this time I checked my bank account and saw the exact pending charge that was referenced in the text. So I replied "No" waited a few minutes, and decided to call SOFI to see what's going on. After being on hold for 30+ minutes, I finally got in contact with a rep, who I'm explaining the situation to, and then got another call from SOFI's number. I mention this to the rep and ask if I should answer, and they respond yes, so I do. Everything seemed normal. The guy on the phone was basically just talking me through everything that occured said there were multiple charge attempts on my account, but they stopped it after they noticed the first one was made in an area code that was far away from home address. He proceeded to tell me told me the fraudster also made a change to my email, and a few other odd things he noted within my account. Then they mentioned they'd essentially go through the process of securing my account. So they sent me a "secure" link to log in to my SOFI account (I know, dumb but it gets weird) to start the security process. I login in the first time but accidentally put in the incorrect password, and it prompted me to try again, no different than when I'm regularly login into SOFI. I try again, this time with the correct password and it prompts me to put in a verification code, which I receive from SOFI. I put the code in, he asked me a few other standard questions and told me that he'll proceed to secure the account so no other attempts can be made. Additionally, he stated in the meantime he's going to forward me all of the fraud notifications that SOFI sent out that should have been routed to my email but didn't because the fraudster made the change. I check my email, and what do I see? 3 emails from SOFI (no-reply@o.sofi.org) saying there was an attempt to make a transfer from my BOA account (which I had linked). He then goes on to say he'll put in a request for a new card to be sent out, we talk for a little longer, then the call randomly disconnects. I call SOFI back to be met with another 45 min hold time to be told they have no notes of any calls or fraud attempts on my account nor any request for a new debit card and proceed to get bounced around to a bunch of different departments who all tell me they don't have any answers and that I will have to wait until the charge on my account processes to dispute it. I've already gone in and changed my password and requested a new debit card, but left with a few questions.

  1. I understand that you can clone a website interface but how is it possible that they were they able to prompt that the password I entered was incorrect, or the verification code from SOFI after putting in the correct password?

  2. How could they have known exactly which charge hit my account to know to send the "Did you make a purchase" message regarding?

  3. How is it possible that the emails he claimed he was going to forward came from verified SOFI emails with my BOA information?

  4. Any other next steps I should take?

Being held financially hostage by SoFi

2 weeks ago my SoFi banking account was hacked. I of course called SoFi and filed disputes against the charges made to my card and they opened an investigation. A week ago, the investigation was closed, the disputes closed and they returned the money that was stolen from me. SoFi restricts my account and says they're going to open a new account for me. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. since then, I have been given the run around when I call customer support and keep getting told "your account will be opened tomorrow". My bills are late, my credit card is frozen due to not being able to pay the bill, I have no money, and the food in my house has just ran out. I sit here with rumbling stomach, as my pregnant wife and son eat the last remaining food we have in the house, as SoFi holds me financially hostage. If you come across this while looking into SoFi, DO NOT GET SOFI, WORST MISTAKE YOU COULD MAKE!

Update: After a WEEK of complaing to them and getting desperate when we ran completely out of food in the house, I continued spam calling them until they eventually connected me to an American representative instead of a fucking Indian call center representative. Within 10 minutes, they took care of the issue, got me access to my money, and I was able to feed my family. Thank God. So insanely ridiculous that this could have been solved so quickly, but these motherfuckers strung me along for a 2 week, made me late on all my bills, and had me stressing about how the hell I was going to feed my pregnant wife and 4 year old son. I work too damn hard for my family for a fucking bank to hold me hostage like this.

How much credit do I need for a small loan to pay down my other credit cards?

Please correct me if this is the wrong flair, but I'm needing some help. I just opened a SoFi account. I'm trying to move away from Discover before the Cap1 merge finishes and all of the local CUs and banks have awful reviews. SoFi looked promising, so I'm trying it out. I saw that they offered small personal loans to pay off credit card debt and as I have one card maxed out with super high interest, I was curious. They told me they couldn't offer anything right now and I'm wondering what I might be able t9 do to change that. My credit is all over the 600s depending on where I check it. Not high. My open accounts are my 2 credit cards (about $2500 total) and my student loans. People who have taken the loans, how did you qualify?

SoFi closed my account and returned $9,297.65 via ACH — I need help locating the returned funds

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone from SoFi who monitors this subreddit can help me with an issue involving $9,297.65 that was supposedly returned after my SoFi account was closed.
Here’s the situation:
I received an ACH payout from Whatnot(live streaming platform) for $10,860.54 into my SoFi account. The deposit was successful and the full amount was credited to my account.
Shortly afterward, SoFi closed my account while there was still $9,297.65 remaining in it.
I have called SoFi multiple times, and each time I have been told that the remaining $9,297.65 was returned via ACH to the original sender/payment processor. I was told the return was initiated on Sunday ( August 9th 2026)
The problem is that Whatnot has not been able to locate the returned $9,297.65.
Whatnot has now asked me to provide written confirmation from SoFi showing that the funds were returned/rejected from SoFi’s end so that they can trace the money with their payment processor.
I contacted SoFi again asking for some type of written confirmation, return trace number, ACH return information, or anything else showing where the $9,297.65 was sent.
So far, I have been unable to get that documentation. I’ve essentially been told that the money was returned and that I need to work it out with the sender.
That leaves me stuck between both sides.
Whatnot says they need documentation from SoFi.
SoFi says the money was already returned.
Meanwhile, $9,297.65 is still unaccounted for.
I’m not asking SoFi to credit me money that was never there. The original $10,860.54 deposit successfully reached my SoFi account. I’m simply trying to determine exactly what happened to the $9,297.65 remaining balance after SoFi closed the account.
If the $9,297.65 was returned through ACH, I would really appreciate someone from SoFi helping me obtain:
The date the ACH return was actually transmitted
The exact amount returned
The ACH return/trace number or other tracking information
The ACH return code, if applicable
Identification of the receiving/originating institution or payment processor it was returned to
Written confirmation that the funds left SoFi and were returned to the originating bank/payment processor
I have spent a lot of time calling and trying to resolve this through normal customer support, but I keep going in circles.
If any SoFi employee or executive who monitors this subreddit sees this, I would really appreciate someone looking into this or escalating it to the appropriate ACH/payment operations team.
I can provide the account information, original ACH trace information, Whatnot correspondence, and any other details privately to an authorized SoFi representative.
Obviously, I will not post my account number or other sensitive banking information publicly.
Thank you to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Edit 1: Thank you all for your input and for taking the time to read through my situation. I genuinely appreciate everyone who has offered advice or tried to point me in the right direction.
I also want to clarify that I’m not trying to trash SoFi or say they’re a bad bank. I believe SoFi is a great bank, and my intention with this post is simply to find someone who can help me resolve a complicated situation.
At this point, I’m really just hoping to get in contact with an account specialist, supervisor, or someone higher up at SoFi who has the ability to look deeper into what happened and help figure out where things went wrong.
I’ve tried going through the normal support channels, but I feel like I’ve reached a point where the situation needs someone with more authority or experience to review it.
I’m currently being drowned by bills while this money is tied up, and it’s becoming extremely stressful. I’m not looking to blame anyone or attack SoFi — I just want the opportunity to speak with the right person who can actually help me get this resolved.
If anyone from SoFi happens to see this, or if anyone knows the best way to reach someone who handles more complicated account situations, I would genuinely appreciate the help.
Thank you again to everyone who has offered advice and support

I went through SOFI's filings to see whether the premium valuation is actually being backed by a more diversified business

The SOFI thesis I keep coming back to is that the bank charter gives them a cheaper funding base while Financial Services and the Technology Platform gradually make the company less dependent on personal lending.

There is some solid evidence for that. Financial Services segment net revenue increased 41% year over year to $428.5M in Q1 2026. Around 97% of deposits were insured at the end of the quarter, which also makes the deposit base look relatively resilient from a funding perspective.

Credit quality looks more mixed. Personal loan delinquency was 47 basis points in Q1, about one basis point lower than a year earlier, so there wasn't obvious deterioration there. At the same time, annualized personal loan charge-offs increased sequentially from 2.80% to 3.03%, and total net charge-offs increased by $33M year over year.

The Technology Platform also had a weaker quarter. Noninterest income there fell 27% because a large client fully transitioned off the platform. That matters because diversification away from lending is a big part of the longer term SOFI story.

Dilution is another thing I hadn't appreciated enough. SoFi issued roughly 140.5M shares through the July 2025 and December 2025 to January 2026 offerings. The July offering alone brought in about $1.7B net and strengthened regulatory capital. At March 31 there were also 281.9M shares reserved for future issuance across equity plans and convertible note conversion.

So the core question for me is how much weight to put on the improving Financial Services business versus the credit and dilution side of the story.

If the non lending segments keep growing quickly and credit stays contained, I can understand the argument for valuing SOFI differently from a traditional bank. If charge-offs continue moving higher while Technology Platform growth stays weak, that premium gets harder to justify.

For people following SOFI closely, which metric matters most to your thesis from here: charge-offs, Financial Services growth, Technology Platform recovery, or deposit growth?

Why am I getting these pop ups?

I tried to set up direct deposit with my work and these are the screens they brought me to after trying to complete the process. Is there something I’m doing wrong or do certain employers not allow direct deposit into SoFi?

DO NOT USE

SoFi has a severe lack of security and horrible customer service. This is my second time having my bank drained and i cannot get ahold of any human to talk to about what happened. The “fraud department” called while i was working and got my info which i think is the real scammer and is drain my account. I have no help in figuring this issue out and taking legal actions may be the only possibility due to lack of security. Also i’ve been hung up on while being “directed to an agent”

SoFi DD Bonus - beware

TLDR - SoFi refusing to pay direct deposit promo bonus despite having fully met the requirements under SoFi terms and conditions.

FYI beware: SoFi does not honor and will actively dispute paying the direct deposit account bonus if there are any technical issues on their end. I have had numerous chat sessions and extended phone call with SoFi and they still refuse to pay out.

Specifically, my SoFi checking has fully and timely met all required terms and conditions for the $400 direct deposit account bonus. I had a chat session with a SoFi rep on August 5 in which the rep confirmed that is the case and submitted a support ticket to have this corrected. I have and noted to SoFi screenshots of these chat transcripts, which SoFi claims they cannot access (despite my being able to). Per this Aug 5 chat, the rep confirmed in writing that my SoFi checking account has met the requirements for the $400 bonus” by stating in response “absolutely correct!”

Subsequently, despite this chat and after the rep issued the support ticket for further review, I received an email further stating that the bonus information provided did not meet the eligibility criteria required to qualify for the bonus.

The issue is due to the fact that on April 13, 2026, my account received a $3.85 deposit credit from Upside, the cash back redemption app. SoFi had this credit incorrectly categorized as a “direct deposit payer” as it is shown on my end for the transaction on the SoFi app. SoFi is improperly claiming that this credit was an eligible direct deposit under the promo
terms and conditions, despite my repeatedly having explained to them that it is not, as it does not meet the definition of an “eligible direct deposit” under SoFi’s terms. I have never worked for or received any income, or even any further cashback credit into my SoFi account, from Upside. It was a one time cashback credit.

The first true payroll direct deposit/eligible direct deposit, was received into my SoFi account from my employer on 7/14/26. That established the 25 day promotional window to be 7/14/26 - 8/8/26, which window was confirmed in writing to me via chat by a SoFi rep. I receive the same deposit amount on a weekly basis and therefore subsequently received payroll direct deposits from this same employer on 7/21/26, 7/28/26, and 8/4/26, for a total that exceeds the $5k minimum threshold for the $400 bonus, during the period 7/14 - 8/8.

Per SoFi terms and conditions: (https://www.sofi.com/banking/checking-offer/)

Eligible: Recurring ACH deposit of regular income to your SoFi Checking or Savings account, including payroll, pension, or government benefit payments (e.g., Social Security), made by your employer, payroll or benefits provider or government agency ("Eligible Direct Deposit")

Not Eligible: Deposits that are not from an employer, payroll or benefits provider or government agency and deposits that are non-recurring in nature are not eligible. Examples of deposits that are not eligible include check deposits, peer-to-peer transfers (e.g., transfers from Zelle®, PayPal, Venmo, Wise, etc.), merchant transactions (e.g., transactions from PayPal, Stripe, Square, etc.), bank ACH funds transfers, wire transfers from external accounts, and IRS tax refunds. SoFi Bank shall, in its sole discretion, assess your Eligible Direct Deposit activity to determine eligibility and may require additional documentation to complete this verification.

Specifically, the Upside credit meets the definition a “not eligible” deposit, as it was not from an employer, payroll or benefits provider or government agency and was a non-recurring in nature. Because of this, it should not have triggered the 25 promotion window from the time the upside credit was deposited, but that is exactly what SoFi is claiming and why they are refusing the payout the $400 bonus.

I wanted to believe transitioning to SoFi banking would be beneficial, but this repeatedly lack of good faith in honoring their own terms and conditions is concerning.

Has anyone had similar experience and were you successful in having SoFi properly payout the bonus? If so, what did you do? Thanks in advance.
