SoFi keeps contacting me

I called SoFi earlier this month to let them know that I would not be able to make a credit card payment until September. The customer service agent said they would make a note of that. Since then, they have sent me letters, emails, texts and called me about this bill. Is this standard practice? It’s not like them contacting me is going to make my paycheck come any faster.

Visible sent me an email and locked me out of my account

Hello, so I got an email from visible saying a “trusted device was recently removed”. I didn’t click on anything in the email.

Then I went over to the visible app and tried to login. Every time I used Face ID, it took me back to the login screen. Then I tried just manually putting in my password. Same thing happened. I even was able to put in my 2FA code all four times and nothing happened. Then I went over and changed my password and tried logging back in again. I was still redirected to the login screen.

Now I think it’s ridiculous that I have to wait more than 15 minutes for an agent who is just going to tell me to turn my phone off and turn it back on again. I need help now!!!!

Comparative qualitative projects

Hello, I have recently developed an interest in creolistics. Specifically, doing fieldwork involving two creoles from discrete regions of the world (with the same superstrate, which I am fluent in).

I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience justifying a qualitative methodology to a committee more experienced with experimental linguistics. I am interested in interview-based research and have not yet pinned down whether I am interested in historical times, modern times or both. So, the project has the potential to be very broad. Let me know if I am in the right field with this idea.

Ph.D program requirements

Hello all, I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D in Spanish. I believe my work background, personal interest and experience studying abroad suit me well to this type of program. However, I am lacking the relevant coursework. I have only taken two advanced Spanish classes in undergrad and there is no Spanish major available at my university. I also have no linguistics coursework in my background, which is my main interest (Second Language Acquisition and Bilingualism) along with teaching.

A faculty member said I could take some Spanish classes to be granted the minor, but it would push my possible Ph.D. entry date to fall 2028.

I understand that some universities evaluate students on a case-by-case basis to determine whether they would be a good fit for the demands of the program. Should I just send my bio and my Spanish writing sample to the directors of graduate studies and hope for the best?

edit: I learned the extra Spanish coursework would not push back my potential program entry date

Don’t know what to do.

Hello, this is my first time posting here. I am thinking a lot today because my next paycheck isn’t until maybe early September and I just ran out of money…

Last time I was really struggling, everyone was so temperamental about me asking for food. It felt like the admins were personally targeting me by removing my posts, across multiple subreddits. Even a former classmate of mine got upset with me when I asked for help with groceries, and I wasn’t even asking her specifically. It was a generic post on my story….A few people did help out, but I’ll never forget the people who were so harsh with me for no reason.

Passed C1 in 2018 and still no diploma. Now the site is not showing my test results

Hello,

I’m kind of at my wits’ end with this situation. I passed the DELE C1 in 2018 and did not receive my diploma in the mail. I reached out two years later and they said they could not send it due to COVID. Now, I am trying to access my online account but the login on the old site is broken. On the new site, it is not showing any record that I took the test. Could someone please let me know how I am supposed to get through to someone at the Instituto to have them fix this situation?

Thanks…

headache/dizziness during and after swimming

Hello, I still have a headache after completing my swim an hour ago and was wondering if too-tight goggles could be the cause, or if it’s something else?

update: i went to a doctor and they gave me some Tylenol, they believe it was dehydration and told me to get electrolytes

Getting closer to my lap swimming dreams

So, I got back in the pool today after a long time of not going. It was so comfortable and quiet because it was the early morning, and the water was the perfect temperature—not too hot, not too cold. After bopping around in the water for a while, I’ve discovered that while I can swim backstroke just fine, I don’t know how to do anything else. I signed up for adult swim lessons at the YMCA and they start next Friday!!! I’m so excited to learn. There’s three other people in the class and at $75 for 8 weeks, it was a total steal.

I can’t find a summer job

I tried posting in r/jobs but they removed it saying it was “just a complaint” so i thought I’d try here.

I am a para during the year, i really love what i do but it’s only 10 month pay. I’m looking for summer work and I’ve applied to all manner of places—education, retail, summer camp, food service, etc. but ALL of them have rejected me. Even my dream job as a summer math teacher interviewed me just to reject me two days later. I’m at my wits end and with the school year ending next week I just don’t know what I’ll do for money over the summer. I’m ready to give up on the job search entirely at this point. I feel like I’m more than qualified but that’s not the result im getting. Am i just not meant to have a summer job?

Edit: after an overwhelmingly thoughtful and kind response, i have decided to give up the summer job search and just be content with what i have. Thank you all for checking in.

Clarifying whether a hangout is a date

We already hung out once and are planning to again, but I found myself wondering when is the right time to clarify whether these are dates or not. Also, is texting a good medium for this conversation?

I would really like to be in a relationship, but I am open to making friends, so I’m not sure how much having this conversation matters to me yet.

So, I am approaching finals season at my second attempt at undergrad and dealing with a serious lack of motivation to write a very important paper. I also have more final assignments for other classes and an exam to study for as well. If I don’t do well, I won’t get financial aid for next semester. I have an A and two B’s and really need to maintain those grades…how can I get out of this funk?!
