Is this just a Baltimore thing?

What is up with the psychotic bike and scooter riders in this city who drive/ride on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic? It’s terrifying and feels like some sort of punk attitude like it is so dangerous. Why are they doing it?!?

Looks like this was quite a success for Baltimore!
“Sail 250 Maryland and Air Show Baltimore drew over 600,000 visitors to Baltimore in June, generating $114.5 million in economic impact, according to a report released by the Living Classrooms Foundation.

In June, Dan Taylor, president of the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, said the city expected 200,000 to 250,000 people to attend the event.”

Would you use a coworking space for WFH parents if you can’t afford traditional daycare but still need help during meetings?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot as a parent working from home, and I’m trying to figure out if this is a real need for others or just something that makes sense in my own situation.

Right now, full-time daycare just isn’t what we want. But at the same time, working from home with a child means I constantly struggle during meetings, calls, or any time I need even 1–2 hours of focused work.I started imagining a different kind of setup.

A membership-based coworking space for parents who WFH, where you can bring your child with you.

There would be a shared workspace for parents, private rooms for calls/meetings, and a play area for kids. The main idea is not full-time childcare it’s flexible, affordable support when you actually need to work.

For example, instead of paying for full-day daycare, you could come in and work alongside your child most of the time. But when you have an important Zoom meeting, interview, or deadline, you could book a short “focus block” (like 60–90 minutes) where someone helps supervise the kids so you can actually concentrate.

I’m still thinking through what that would look like in practice whether it’s a mix of parents helping each other, part-time staff, or something hybrid and obviously it would need to be done safely and properly.

The idea is more like:
I can’t afford full-time daycare, but I still need a safe, supportive place where I can get real work done. It could also have a community aspect other parents working nearby, kids playing together, and just a general sense of not doing this alone.

I’m curious:
Would something like this actually help you?
Would you trust a shared/co-op childcare setup, or would you only want professional staff involved?
How often would you realistically use something like this?

What would feel like a fair monthly price compared to daycare or babysitting?

What would make this better than just struggling at home or paying for occasional sitters?

I’m not trying to sell anything..I’m just trying to understand if other parents are in the same “can’t afford full daycare but still need help to function at work” situation, or if this only solves my own problem. 😂

Pratt Street is no good for the Red Line in Baltimore

The author argues that a Pratt Street alignment for Red Line pulls it too far away from the center of downtown, and also too far from Metro.

I think the author makes good points here, but one advantage to the Red Line on Pratt would be (hopefully) calming traffic on that damn street. So move the Red Line but also please do something about Pratt at the same time.

This is what a local resturant posted...

Posting this here before they delete it because this is gross. The caption called him a "real one" before the changed it . Think its worth sharing for people to consider who they give business to especially when it involves them excited about a person arrested for being wanted for rape and sex trafficking.

I really need y’all to stop asking me why we moved from SC to Baltimore. Y’all have no idea how much nicer it is up here in literally almost every single way… save for the energy bill. SC is NOT a nice place to live. Every place has its problems but Baltimore is wonderful.

MT. Vernon Package Theft

I recently got a very important package stolen. I live in Mt. Vernon near Hotel Revival. Does anybody who lives in the area have experience with recovering their stolen packages? Is there a repeat offender in the area that camps out i the same area? Any place I should go looking. Where does the nearest homeless population/camp stay?

I gave Fedex explicit directions to not leave any Package on porch.

This package contained extremely important sentimental items I am desperate to retrieve them.

Feeling unsafe as a Black woman

I am a Black woman who moved to Baltimore 3 years ago. I came from a predominantly white city but I lived in predominantly Black neighborhoods. I have been cat called before moving here, but it was definitely not an every day occurrence. I think that Baltimore is great and has a lot to offer. The main problem for me is that men here are extremely aggressive particularly the Black and Hispanic men. It has gotten to the point I have had to call the police. I have been followed because I refused to give them my number. I once had a guy circle around my house several times to stare at me as I was walking to my car. I have been cursed at because I didn’t speak to a man trying to talk to me from across the street while I was at the bus stop (I didn’t even know he was talking to me, considering I was not the only one at the stop). Yelled at as I am walking past. Even security guards in uniform AT WORK making comments. One said “ Damn shorty it’s going to be like that?”. All because I gave him a simple head nod to acknowledge his greeting. Another security guard once followed me out of the store to stare at me walking to my car because I gave him a head nod instead of stopping to talk. Mind you I’ve never seen them treat any of the male customers that walked past them like that. It gets grating to the point I don’t want to speak to any man who actually might be nice. I am trying not to be that way but I genuinely feel unsafe. It is an everyday occurrence.

It is this weird power trip where I as a woman need to open my mouth to speak to them. It’s not enough to just acknowledge them and keep pushing.

I work in customer service and I say hello to customers all day. Some acknowledge me and some don’t. I have never minded. People are busy and in their own world. My only job is to help them find what they need. After work, I don’t feel like talking. I just keep to myself. I am not rude in any way.

I talked to my uncle about it and he thinks that it’s because we as Black women are generally viewed as less protected. Not in the sense of just society, but in the sense of familial protection. Many people assume that we don’t have fathers or husbands or brothers or uncles who are in our lives and willing to protect us. So other men feel comfortable treating us that way because they don’t have any fear of repercussions from another man.

I'm just tired.

A sarti spritz SOS

hello all,

my friend and i have been on the hunt to try a sarti spritz given the recent hype about the drink. does anyone know of restaurants/bars where it would be on the menu? I was thinking Bloom's or Love Pomelo but I don't see it on the website. thanks! the way I discovered its existence was a video of a girl trying it in Baltimore, so I know it's got to be here somewhere (i can't find the video anymore) :-(
