Caribbean Queen Buffet | North York | $5.99 Surprise Bag
It’s not a sit down restaurant, but an event space. They used a smaller container for my food than the ones on display. Def not worth $18

Very generous portion!
I had a long day outside, and I couldn’t muster up the strength to move again once I hit the gym to shower.
I obviously know that people are living in their cars, but wow. It felt like half the lot were car dwellers. There were many minivans, trailers, sprinter vans, even teslas.
I’m sure there were some that were less noticeable than others, I just noticed those first since they had very visible window covers.
I didn’t know what to tag this as, it’s less of a story and more of an observation. Have you noticed an increase of car dwellers in your city?
Hello everyone, I posted something about a week ago on getting my first knock on my first night, I figured I’d update you on how my first week went and things I’ve learned since then.
No matter how smooth you drive, things will move around so don’t leave things out!
Ice is expensive. And lasts a day at most in a hot car. I’m planning on getting freezer packs for my cooler and using the freezer at my job to swap them out once they warm up again
Parking is still like a foreign language to me. I woke up this morning to a $65 ticket after parking in a residential area near a park. I’ve been trying to find quieter areas to park, but with little to no signage I feel like I’m gambling. This ticket says I parked on a highway, so I think I’ll be successful in disputing it.
Libraries are your best friend. Here in Toronto, they offer a portable wifi router that’s available at many branches, you’re able to rent it for up to 6 months consecutively. They are also great for keeping cool and chilling out.
If you’re eating on a tight budget, a lot of cheap eats offer discounts if you pay in cash. I’ve been getting Banh mi for breakfast when I run out of food, $6 and I get a pretty big sandwich that I could save for later.
So far, I’ve been enjoying it. I get to see new places, try new things, and I can just…go anywhere. I’m still working on making everything more comfortable, my bad is laying on my clothes so it’s not exactly flat, and picking up the bad every time I need something is already getting tired. But, for a week I don’t think it was that bad. Definitely an adjustment, but I know things will get easier with time. I think I’ll update in a month, or once I feel more…combobulated
This is the biggest plate of anything I’ve gotten so far off off tgtg! I will definitely be returning
Hi everyone! I (22F, GTA) have found myself here after a long history of unfortunate events, but lurking in this sub has made me feel like I can actually live out of my van while I get myself back on track.
Last night I headed to my first (of many) places to sleep. It’s a public parking lot that allows 48 hours of free parking. To my surprise, I wasn’t the only one there. I parked, hopped in the back, put up my curtains and quickly fell asleep.
About an hour later I woke up to knocking, a flashlight coming through the windows, and a police car shining through my front window.
The rear windows are tinted, so it wasn’t too harsh, but as soon as I hopped to the front seat I felt like I was ascending
The officer tells me that I’m not in trouble, but that they’re searching for a stolen vehicle and my car fits the description. I give her my license, she checks it, apologizes for waking me up and wishes me a good night.
I kinda feel like this was more of a “hey, are you alive?” check, cause realistically why would someone steal a car and sleep in it?
I also learned pretty quickly that I don’t need 2 blankets and a sweatpants set to sleep, even though the temperature drops at night it’s not THAT cold😅
I was always so afraid of “the knock” I almost feel like I brought it upon myself, I’m hoping that the next few nights are a little more peaceful.
