Need a Framework 16 soon, did prebuilt prices actually go up?
Hi, Framework community.
I'm a music producer looking to move from my M4 MacBook Pro (bought less than a year ago) to a Framework 16 Performance Pro. Apple is phasing out Rosetta 2 and deprecating APIs/frameworks my legacy VSTs and software rely on, so my workflow will become increasingly unreliable starting this September.
Ironically, I originally planned to buy a Framework 16 after my old Windows laptop died last year, but held off because Ableton Live 12 had reported compatibility issues on the FW16 (which have since been resolved). I bought the Mac instead, not knowing Rosetta 2 was about to be sunset.
I made my ideal prebuilt configuration a few days ago, but it sold out and is expected back in July. I need the laptop by late July or early August because migrating 2TB of projects, plugins, and samples will take time.
My concern is that the same prebuilt configuration was about $2.2k when I made it, but now shows roughly $2.6k. The site only lists the Expansion Bay Module as out of stock, so I'm not sure if this is a pricing bug or an actual increase (possibly due to component costs).
I also have DDR5 RAM from my old Windows laptop, but since that system died from a motherboard failure, I'm hesitant to reuse it.
TL;DR: Has anyone else seen prebuilt prices jump like this? Is it a temporary website issue or an actual price increase? I need the laptop by late July/early August and I'm trying to decide whether I should wait or change my plans.
