Expired "good" helmet vs. new Amazon helmet?

Edit:

I would say the question has been answered with a very solid "neither". This has certainly been very eye-opening, and I appreciate everyone who has been kind / informative. I just bought a scrumptious Biltwell Gringo S ECE 22.06 Helmet on sale and am so excited to no longer be riding in the (as one put it) cooler foam brain colander from Amazon. Wishing safety and happiness to everyone who helped me out. Cheers!

Original:

I'm a brand new rider and also ehhh... poor. So don't yell at me lest I cry.

I just got slightly bamboozled; I found this delightful (and allegedly "new") helmet secondhand (yes, 1st red flag) and went to pick it up. I did inspect it and found no manufacture date. It looked pristine, shiny, and the person I bought it from was just standing there. So I caved and bought it for $50.

Pictured below, the delightful Nexx Cafe Racer helmet... That which, upon a bit of research, I discovered that they stopped making in 2010. :/

I've been using a helmet that I bought from Amazon for the MSF course, also pictured below. It's a 3/4 helmet and has been nice... But I hear that a lot of Amazon brands fake the DOT certification.

So my question for people who know about this sort of thing: Is the safer option to keep using the Amazon helmet or get some new lining for the sus one that I just bought? I've seen comments all over the internet that make a good case for either scenario. Genuinely at a loss.

¯\_(ヅ)_/¯ (me)
