The End of Oak Street Review
Briefly put this is a movie devoid of soul and emotion because it sets up the father and mother as having very deep family issues with the mother straight up wanting to escape her husband and kids but it's all completely magically solved by the end of the movie. At its core that's what's wrong with the movie, it tries to do so much but ends up doing nothing. It tries to be funny, serious, scary and deep all at once with no breathing room and ends up feeling super artificial, like Anne Hathaway's performances, too self aware to actually commit to the subject at hand.
I see a lot of people saying "it's only a dinosaur movie" but that sounds like an excuse from an executive making this movie and this kind of mentality, especially coming from the common people is a detriment to actual criticism. This movie cost 100 million to make and no, they won't pay you for defending its quality. Or lack of.
Is it at least entertaining? No. Visually it's like any other movie of its budget and the audio is just okay but it has nothing to really hook. I saw multiple people at the theater checking their watches throughout the movie. But if looking at dinosaurs for nearly 2 hours is enough for you then I envy you.
I would suggest to not waste the $15 to see it or $30 if seeing it with a friend. There are much better movies to see in a day and age where media is fighting for our attention with endless quality releases.
