Door anchor

Anyone else keep hurting themselves using a door anchor? Lol

I haven't got locks on my doors, so only use the ones that open the opposite way to the way I'm pulling.

They still fling open sometimes and I get slingshotted in the chest or balls 😭

Think I'm going to give up on using door anchors now. May use it for tricep pull downs with bands and that's about it.

I'll have to start doing some of my exercises at the gym, where I can tie them to something stable.

So ..

I've been using the clench fitness system for about 8 weeks now. Ive got the footplate, bar, handles, door anchor and pack of 5 (41 inch) bands and pack of 5 (34 inch).

  1. the footplate - the footplate is amazing. Great size, super durable. Has 4 holes so you can bring the band width in a bit and also use them to tie and anchor the bands for various exercises.

I did have to buy the plastic feet tho as an extra, because the footplate sits really close to the floor, so once the band/s are under it, you can't adjust or move them, while standing on the footplate, which i found a bit annoying.

Massive difference once the feet were fitted.

  1. the bar - the bar is amazing. The best ive tried so far. I'm comparing it to the two geku bars ive had previously and an innstar with caribenas.

Only gripe is, it doesn't work that good for chest presses or deadlifts. Not with the 41's anyway. Doesn't have enough tension at the beginning of the movement.

However with the 34 inch bands, that resolves the problem. But the bar itself seems durable, has a 1000lbs force limit and is super lightweight.

Its fairly comfortable on your shoulders when doing front squats and back squats. It just has a really good feel to it and isn't thick, so you can get a solid grip on it, even with small hands like mine.

  1. the handles - now the handles, i don't really like. They are a bit awakward to use, aren't that comfortable when using heavy loads and i don't trust the durability of them.

I'm not saying they aren't durable. But they're plastic and the inside of the handles where you grip them feels shit and hurts your hands when trying to do heavyish deadlifts. They're okay, but ive stopped using them now. I have a pair of reinforced wooden J Bryant handles and they're so much better imo. Higher load rating and a lot more comfortable.

  1. door anchor - its ok, not great. Its a bit big and hangs a quarter way down your door when anchored on top. Its a bit meh. But it will have its uses when i want to train outside and wrap around a pole or something, to protect the bands.

  2. the bands themselves - the bands are great. They're layered so they're pretty strong. I don't think they are as stiff as serious steel. But obviously stiffer than your undersuns and similar.

I think they're really good and have held up well so far. You definitely benefit from having both 34's and 41's as one size work better for some exercises and the other size works better for others.

So in summary, handles are a bit meh, the rest of the stuff is great and i'm really enjoying using it.

Would highly reccomend if anyone is in two minds about purchasing it.

I thought about buying into harambe, but i think for the money, clench is the winner and you can always hit up max at vector athletics, if you want to do back squats or whatever else with some straps (equivalent to harambe slings)

I would like to try harambe cyberplate but not for the price or with trumps tariffs added onto the shipping.

Keep training 🫡💪

Yo gang

I think ive read on here before, people poo pooing the harness, but it was £35 on amazon uk so i bought it. Tried it yesterday and it was decent.

Well worth the money!! Its a bit awkward initially trying to stand up when going heavy and its a bit hard on your body right at the top of the exercise. But its a real good leg burner.

Haven't tried split squats with it yet, but i bet it will be amazing for that as well.

I say GO FOR IT.... especially for the tiny cost
