so- it has occurred to me that most of the fandom thinks of yotul like kangaroos (Or lowkey just smaller wool-less venlil, don't lie, you do.)

See I envisioned them as chinchillas, and when its said by the yotul that the federation was basically doing (physical and cultural) genocide against them, I was surprised people weren't like "Nooooo! Not the chillias!!!!" and that the people in the fandom just ignored it completely to focus on other things (and basically going 'well its not THAT bad')

was I the only one who saw them a steampunk chinchillas?

The ONLY two rules here is that it should not have romance as its main purpose (I want genuine non romantic focused stories) and to at least give me bare bones credit for the idea

1. a venlil scientist on venlil prime who’s poor (mayhaps a gambling issue 🤨) thus leading him to have to work at one of the lab meat factories that opens on venlil prime later in NoP, and has to come to terms with the fact that not all meat eating causes harm. Leading to him having life revolutions and handling his new views.

2. an washed up tilfish actor who’s new goal is to star in a horror movie for humans because he wants to turn humans fear of tilfish to a Godzilla type of love for him where he’s still a scary creature but has a adoring fandom, the plushies, the fanart- he wants it all!

3. a bald farsul (genetic mutation to have a lack of fur or some disease) who was bullied all their life for it. meets a human who’s blind in a hospital. Human mistakes them for a deformed child, and the bald farsul helps the blind human around (like a actual service dog) and the farsul comes to terms that their appearance doesn’t matter

4. a convention years and years in the future of NoP of each species having a (recovered) historical booth, (use human histories!) krakotl as Aztecs- etc etc- use it to educate about real life cultures and histories!

5. have a gojid go to a actual farm, say a chicken(egg) or wool farm, and find out about how much a farmer can care for cattle, give them the best life possible but learn that sometimes things happen and other things.

6. a exterminator who came to earth ends up finding a abandoned human infant and decides to raise it in the woods only to find out just how many plants are inedible and how aggressive earth herbivores are and they slowly turn anti herbivore after they witness something unforgivable like- idk bunny eats its own babies

(If this already exists I don’t know about it, but like- go crazy!)

How did the federation hide the shadow caste for so long?

Like- I’m not even talking ‘how’d they hid the fuel, ships, food, and water?’ Though that is a very good question.

I’m talking about how nikonus immediately spilled the beans the moment someone entered his office? Like- girl barely got to sit down and he was already giving a monologue that would put a comic villain to shame with no qualms.

Like- I’m sorry- bro was basically TRIPPING over himself to give a whole speech about it without even trying to pretend he was in the right.

If those are the kinds of shadowy caste leaders that the federation had how the hell did they manage without collapsing?

Why do people add in sexism in NoP? Especially in the federation? Like… it’s canonical that the federation would get rid of any sexism in cultures in any species they came across to make everyone equal to rule over????

So like- what makes people add the sexism? Why? It makes no sense, it’s not canonical? And there are plenty of other things in NoP that could be great plot points or things for characters to overcome, so why have I seen so many fics make it such a big point?

I want to state the reason this post has even come into existence is because me and someone else in the fandom were talking about things that annoyed us in the fandom, me saying that I didn’t like how much people infantasize the aliens, and he brought up how much he’s seen sexism in the fanon compared to the canon. so no, I’m clearly not the only one who’s seen this if someone else is bringing it up as a grievance they’ve seen in the fandom. And so I decided to post ‘hey why is that?’, I don’t care if yall have seen it or not at this point.

scenario:
Its right at the beginning of nop, Your a human, it right after the vote, everyone has voted to go to war already and you can't change it, it's from then on.

rules:

1. no you can't just immediately end it, that will result in you starting over at the beginning of the scenario.
2. you must actually be honest to what you'd be, no average joe in the real world to mary sue in nop world.
3. you can't spoil Nop, everyone will automatically think your crazy until that actual plot point happens.
4. the aliens will act canonical to the story, not everyone is gonna be your bestie/fall over for you romantically.

What are you personally doing?

What’s one nop hot take that you think the fandoms needs to come to terms with/ignores/ would deem crazy? I’m willing hear any and every one of your crazy takes about NoP

I personally really dislike how the fandom sort of infantilizes how racist the herbivores are- and yes I understand that the herbivores have trauma, this is the biggest explanation for it and is INCREDIBLY established in the fandom

If you take away the alien part of NoP and just replace it with different races, then all that NoP racism becomes not so acceptable and not cute REAL quick.

For example one character goes

“I didn’t think predators were advanced enough to have concepts like that”

Replace that predators with a race and it’s-

“I didn’t think [random race of people] were advanced enough to have concepts like that”

And it’s not so cute and easily excused is it? I think NoP would’ve been a bit more impactful if humans went ‘no stop, that’s not okay, you need to understand that thinking like that is hurtful to yourself and others’, if humans tried more to actually put a stop to that blatant racism over just letting it happen until it turned into somewhat abuse in NoP2 it would’ve had more of a impact than just letting it fester.
