Anyone deal with a condescending and entitled elderly patron? Mostly a rant.

I have an elderly patron, female in her 80s. She comes in our library and is snarky about everything. We were having some roof repairs done that our director spent months securing funds for, she comes in saying, "must be nice to have so much money." Several staff members responded with, "oh our director worked so hard to secure grants so we could get this work done." She huffed and insisted there was no grant money under this administration. We smiled and nodded. Our library offers free coffee or tea. As she is making her coffee, she uses a snarky tone and says, "About time you got real creamer instead of powdered. What I wanted to say back to her is we only put out 6 at a time because you always take a handful before you leave. She'll make her coffee, drink it, then wipe the cup out and fill it with creamer cups and take it home. This patron is not low income or hard up for money. She almost feels entitled because she donates $500 at the end of the year. She expects discounts on printing because she has been published and is "top" of her field. She expects everything handed to her. How do I curb this behavior, we all dread when she comes in because everything is take take take. She once kept a book 6 months past it's due date and when I said it needed to be returned or the $280 needed to be paid to replace it she was mad that I wouldn't just over ride it because she hadn't finished the 80 page book yet. Finally, it did come back. She wants every fine to be dismissed without paying. Our longest running director is the one that permitted this behavior because the patron is "rich". It's been 3 years and we still are dealing with this even though we have stuck to our guns about the policy. Thankfully the board and current director are sticking to their guns as well.

I suppose this is more of a rant than anything.

Cataloging question about a specific "author"

So I have a question about where everyone puts books by J.D. Vance.
I know the books are listed as Bio, but at least with Hillbilly Elegy it was brought out that it was all made up. Should it be kept in the Bio section? Now we have gotten Communion and I'm not sure if it should be in Bio or Fic.

Yes, I asked my higher ups and they said just use what the distributor says it is. I just feel bad because if something is fake then it obviously isn't a bio or nonfic book.

What YouTube channels do you enjoy?

Finally have a little bit of down time to watch a video or two. I cleaned out my subscriptions a month or so ago to weed out the ones that no longer applied to me.

Looking for some good homesteading/farming channels that are not MAHA or MAGA. So many have become so outwardly anti-science and anti-education over the last 7 or so years, not to mention the other things I take issue with. I'm trying to find some new channels to watch for a sense of community if possible.

How to find a family member I know virtually nothing about?

This person would be my uncle (mother's half brother).
Born in the 1960s (not sure exact year).
I have a first name and middle (I think ) could be First and Last.
I tried social media, I tried public records, not even a mention in the newspaper. Not sure how to track down a kid, born out of wedlock, with no mother, who lived in a polygamist situation.

Grandfather is dead, mother can't remember, grandmother refuses to acknowledge the extra kid (but she has ptsd from grandfather's abuse).

Tried 3 different DNA kits, have family tree online, only one mention in grandfather's crappily written obituary and a picture from 1972. Find a grave didnt help. Hit a dead end. I have an extensive family tree, just this dead little twig I cant figure out.

How hard is it to get police/crime reports from the 1970s?

I have a family member that was part of a motorcycle gang (according to the newspaper) who committed a horrid crime (one of many). He was prosecuted and went to the state hospital for his sentence. I want to access the police/crime reports as well as the medical records from his time in the state hospital. This family member has been dead since 2009. I am the next of kin (his grandchild). I'm reaching out to the police departments and hospital, but honestly what are my chances of getting this info. I also reached out to the military records office for this person as they were enlisted prior to these crimes. All the crimes I know of took place in Ohio.

Making a low tech aac board

Looking at making a low tech AAC board, essentially pictures that are laminated that kids can point to.

Aside from Read A Book, Train Table, Doll, Blocks, Toilet, what else would you include?

I'm still in the research phase, but know I would like to have it up by the start of school as we get lots of after school program kids in. Thinking of making a list of things and having an intern work on it for a project.
