I “Heart” my Dwarf 3

I “Heart” my Dwarf 3

Taken from the Bortle 4 skies of Norwich Astronomical Society’s observatory in South Norfolk. (https://norwichastro.org.uk )

60 seconds exposure at 60 gain, a little under 5hrs of data with a Dwarf 3.
Stacked in Siril using the RC Astro tools and then the faux SHO look using the AstroWizard software.

The Dwarf and the Butterfly, with a little Wizardry!

We had a lot of rain yesterday in Norfolk, of course that meant that the skies were 'cleaned',and were they beautiful last night from https://norwichastro.org.uk/.

Just 2 hrs on 1 Dwarf 3 before the moon rose and tiredness kicked in. Processed with a slightly fuzzy, sleep deprived head this morning with the AstroWizard software.

Might have cranked the sliders up a little too much?

Sharpless 2-119 - The Clamshell Nebula

More time playing with Siril and the AstroWizard image processing tools.

620 minutes worth of data from my 2 Dwarf 3 scopes, 60 seconds exposure at 60 gain from the Bortle 4 skies at https://norwichastro.org.uk/.

I need to add date using the astro filter only to hopefully bring out the blue reflection nebula near the central star (68 Cygni).

Another night under the clear skies

A little fuzzy headed today as a result of leaving https://norwichastro.org.uk/ well after 2am this morning, but cannot miss a second night of clear skies.

The bright moon did not set until after midnight, by which time I could hear the barn owls hooting and the cry of a distant deer.

Anyway with 2 x Dwarf 3's, the extra hours on Sh2-114 (the Clamshell nebula) means I get double the data, and so with about 10hrs of data so far, this is the result.

Processed in the excellent and evolving AstroWizard program from lukomatico. (Too tired for Siril today!)

Both Dwarf 3's were EQ Mounted and exposure time was 60 seconds at 60 gain. Norwich Astro has Bortle 4 skies.

NGC 7293 it’s so low here in the UK

I remember seeing the Helix Nebula for the first time in my refractor a few years ago, it’s an enchanting object.

Since then the trees opposite https://norwichastro.org.uk have grown in height and it’s harder to image with my Dwarf’s.

Since it’s low on the horizon, there’s more atmospheric “murk”, any ideas on how to improve the image? Thus is just 2.5 hrs, and when clear, I’ll target it again.

Thanks, Chris

How to combine the same image from my two Dwarf 3 telescopes

Long time visual observer here; the Dwarf Smart scopes have been transformative to my pastime (obsession) of looking at the night skies. However I live in East Anglia in the UK, where clear, moonless nights are not as common as I'd like.

I decided that getting two Dwarf 3 scopes would allow me to collect twice as many images in the same space of time, but how to merge the data to produce one final stacked Fits file?

I've tried using the CoStack in the StarParty feature, but that doesn't then "show" the image in Stellar Studio to run a star reduction process etc. I'm slowly, trying to get to grips with Siril, but it's a steep learning curve and more "miss" that "hit or miss" with the final images.

Is there an easy way? Thanks in advance, Chris

A starless Sharpless 2-101

Spent a few nights now to gather approximately 8hrs of data using my Dwar3 on this.

Megastacked and then processed in Stellar Studio with a few adjustments in the photo app on my iPad.

Love how the Dwarf 3 allows you to ‘see’ the nebulosity here.

Really pleased with my first timelapse and eclipse with my Dwarf Mini.

I missed the 2019 eclipse in the UK with conjunctivitis. It was cloudy in London anyway.

Experienced this eclipse with a friend from the cliff tops of Hunstanton, in Norfolk.

The Dwarf Mini made it very easy to capture a short timelapse. Most of the videos I’ve seen have the same wobble as the moon eclipsed most of the sun; I ran my .mp4 through iMovie to stabilise it a little. (This is the original footage).

Not perfect, but for a small, inexpensive piece of kit, am very pleased.
