New to dish hopper can't get Alexa to control it

Just got "hopper 3 with sling"

Alexa dish skill is enabled

I got the code from TV

Alexa app says it's linked when code is used

TV never has a confirmation message just stays on the code page

Alexa (echo dot) tries to find a device (none is found)

I tell echo dot to "change channel to #"

It says it is but never does

The heck am I missing? I've disabled/re-enabled and used like 6 different link codes.

(-_-)/ the whole point of upgradeing was to stream line voice controls for my vision impaired parents....

Questions about text to speech on the newer receivers // cost to upgrade?

We use the old vip772k system which is pretty dang old and doesn't have voice commands. We just got an Amazon echo dot and technically we can do voice controls with an ir blaster but it's a bit complicated for my parents.

I'm thinking of getting the newer system for my visually impaired father and the text to speech feature sounds nice.

I'm curious when looking at the guide does it auto read the titles as you scroll? How about the movie descriptions?

/Edit found a video of the hopper 3 and text to speech is there a way to disable it saying the times? He's not completely blind just has a hard time reading even on our huge ass TV.

Bonus question since they've been a member of dish Network for like 25 years do you think they would get a deal upgradeing? Is there a particular model we should get? Likely monthly(?) cost?
