Playmaker positioning question

We got a playmaker dual for our camping trips at night or bad weather. The first time I struggled finding a signal moving it around. I've read the coax connections need to point north and have also read it doesn't matter.

On this past trip once I found the signal it was fine. So my question is. Does it matter as long as you have clear site or should it be positioned a certain way?

Thanks everyone

Any DISH smartbox dealers here?

I have a need for a DISH smartbox for an end user with a ~2 week turnaround deadline. Our company does not sell DISH at all, so looking for someone to partner with me on this. Thanks

How to Manage the Promotional Banner - Official Dish Guide

If you've noticed a small banner at the bottom of your TV guide recommending shows and movies, you have full control over it! You can leave it on, turn it off completely, or set it to only show helpful tips and tricks. The exact steps to change this will depend slightly on which Dish remote you're using (like the 40.0, 50.0, 52.0, 54.x, or 60.0 models).

Important Note for Joey 4 & Hopper Plus Users: The Android TV interface on Joey 4 and Hopper Plus receivers does not support banner customization, and these settings are not present in those menus.

Method 1: Update via the Guide Menu (Standard Receivers)

  1. Select Guide Settings.
  2. Select Notification Banner, then choose your preference (like Show All or Show Tips and Tricks Only).

Method 2: Update via the Main Menu (Standard Receivers)

  1. Select the Settings icon (it looks like a gear).
  2. Select Guide.
  3. Select Notification Banner and choose your preferred setting.

Visit the Dish Support page for more features and settings: https://support.dish.com/products/receivers/hopper-settings

It’s that easy! Customizing these settings helps keep your guide looking and functioning exactly how you want it to. If you aren't sure which remote model you have or run into any trouble finding these menus, just let us know in the comments below.

How to Find and Watch Free Channels Every Month -August 2026

These monthly freebies are available to all DISH TV customers automatically with no internet connection or special receiver required! Did you know you can check out new channels every month without changing your package? DISH offers rotating free channel previews at no extra cost. It’s a great way to discover new shows, movies, and networks before deciding if you want to add them to your lineup permanently.

Here’s everything you need to know to catch the latest free previews:

Where to look: The easiest way to see what's currently available for free is by tuning directly to Channel 103 on your guide.

Preview Start Times: Free previews typically unlock a little early around 5:00 PM ET the day before the official start date.

Preview End Times: They stay on a bit longer, too, wrapping up at 2:00 AM ET the day after the listed end date.

What's playing now until the end of August:

  • SundanceTV (Ch. 126)
  • UPtv (Ch. 188)
  • Science (Ch. 193)
  • Crime + Investigation (Ch. 249)

🔗 [Official Free Previews Schedule]: https://my.dish.com/perks/free-preview

If you find a new favorite channel during a free preview, you can easily log into your MyDISH account to see which TV packages or add-ons include it so you can keep watching all year long.

Streamers Transfer to EHD Now!

You can now transfer events that have been recorded on streaming channels to your External Hard Drive!!!!! 🪅🎆🎉

Sure would be nice if Dish actually sent out a notification on this. An email. A Hopper Internal Notification. A post here. A text message. Something. Why Dish continues to keep new features hidden until a subscriber stumbles upon them is beyond me.

What’s it like working as a Field Tech?

I currently work as a package delivery driver and I have been wanting to move into a job that I can use to build skills for a career.

I was curious about dish/starlink because one is hiring near me so I wanted to see what the pros and cons of the job are.

Thank you in advance!

Chase Offers

I saw in my Chase online banking for the credit cards that I have with them that there is an offer of $85 cash back on a subscription purchase. Has anyone done this, and did it work for a one-time payment?
