MODbox rolling drawer boxes get even heavier...

Those of you who've read my other threads may remember I bought and returned the 54801MB two drawer rolling toolbox a few different times because I didn't like having to fight with the bottom drawer but mostly because of its weight - a whopping 44.375 lbs. empty.

Well Acme Tools has updated their information on the new 54890MB three drawer roller, and it's… 51.3 lbs. empty; that's into OSHA recommended two person lift category.. 😳

Question for Honeywell X8S users

I noticed long ago that when my X8S is set to dual mode and the AC kicks on, if it's displaying a temperature and is cooling to the same temperature (in my case the thermostat reads 73º and it's cooling to 73º) it doesn't bother displaying the snowflake behind the large temperature display in cooling mode.

Just one of those things, I thought, but the demo thermostats at Home Depot and Lowe's do, but they're also running special demo unit firmware.

So if you have one and you see it clicking on to maintain your temperature, do you see the big snowflake icon behind your temperature as the AC kicks on to maintain temperature?

Do auto dealers report sales to SXM?

I just sold a car to a car dealer last weekend and today I got a notice from SXM letting me know that vehicle's radio had been "unlinked" from a subscription on my account.

I was going to call them about it but hadn't had a chance yet, so I'm wondering how they knew. 🤷‍♂️

It's quite convenient, actually, but was surprising nevertheless.

13 78 8 SBA: Neat, but why would you need 1000V insulated wire strippers?

Simple question:

It's an awesome tool, but why would you need 1000V insulated wire strippers? Is anyone out there stripping live wires?

Former Milwaukee Tool employee sentenced to prison for stealing $1 million in tools

Some of you may remember the arrest…

>A former Milwaukee Tool employee was sentenced to five years in prison after being charged with stealing over $1 million worth of tools. > >Mathew Yang, 32, pled no contest to five felonies related to theft and computer crime on Friday, Aug. 7. A judge dismissed nine other felony theft charges in a plea deal. > >Prosecutors say Yang stole over $1 million in company products by placing fraudulent orders and having them delivered to his Wauwatosa apartment. Yang worked in IT, where he had access to Milwaukee Tool’s ordering system and was able to place the orders without entering payment, then delete them from the system. > >A criminal complaint says Yang placed more than 110 separate orders, which added up to 9,000 pounds of tools. Milwaukee Tool was only able to cancel and recover six of the shipments.  > >Investigators found an Excel spreadsheet titled “selling list” on Yang’s company laptop, which included “selling prices” and “order tabs.” They concluded that Yang may have sold stolen products directly to Milwaukee Tool customers.  > >A judge sentenced Yang to five years behind bars and five years of extended supervision for one felony count of theft involving property worth more than $100,000. For the other four felony counts, the judge stayed prison sentences and ordered Yang to serve nine years of probation. > >Yang was also ordered to pay $1.08 million in restitution to Milwaukee Tool. A seizure of $133,895.38 from Yang’s bank account by the Brookfield Police Department will go towards the restitution owed.

Single drawer PACKOUT box now available at many Home Depots

They aren't on the floor at most locations, they're up in topstock. Employees at my store had to search for about half an hour before they found them.

Strangely, all the other PACKOUT drawer boxes come packed two to a cardboard shipping box; the single drawer boxes are packed individually.

Anyone buy from BaT?

I found an S on BaT that is everything I want but other than the fact it will likely sell for way more than I would be willing to pay I'm most concerned about the risk of buying a car I can't touch or test drive.

Anyone here buy from BaT? I'm most disturbed because the one I looked at and didn't buy because the exterior was in such rough shape itself sold on BaT in 2025 (though to be fair I would have bought it for the price it sold for on BaT, just not the price that the buyer wanted for it.) 🤷‍♂️

Stiff clutch means wear and/or PP?

I've test driven an AP1 near me a few times now and the clutch pedal is quite stiff.

I thought they may have just installed an aftermarket spring, but I've read many articles stating it's a worn clutch and/or PP, and parts and labor seem to be around $3K for that.

Sounds like I should pass.

It has 98K miles on the clock, 2003.

When a $20 accessory costs you $200 in repairs…

My drill has a hex shank nose so I inserted the right angle adapter directly into it and tried to remove a screw.

Shortly after the shank broke where indicated, leaving a piece in the nose that could not be removed by any means I had at my disposal, so I had to send it to the tool manufacturer's service center for repair.

I tried super glue, magnets and wore out two cobalt bits trying to drill into the piece of shaft left in the tool without any success.

So what could do this to a front clip?

Obviously, it's long-term and cumulative damage, not just a clip of a drainage channel or something like that. But what could do it across the entire front clip extending a decent distance above the bottom? Those are all fingernail-catching scratches on the bottom forward edge, not bug splatter or anything like that.

The only thing I can come up with is track use and track debris, a red flag when buying used…

Voice tracking still going off into the weeds…

Example: On 70s on 7, the DJ just said that he was going to play the unedited version of this song because he refused to play the edited version of it, and said coming up next would be Signs by The Five Man Electrical Band.

Next, the Happy Days promo played and Signs never did play.

Not as bad as Alan Hunter telling everyone Kim Carnes was dead during the 80s countdown on 80s at 8, but still.

XGT OPE Clearance at Home Depot

They got rid of the XGT power tools earlier this year and these prices are steals given the weed trimmer comes with a 4.0 Ah XGT battery and charger and the chain saw a 5.0 Ah XGT battery and charger, making the chargers and tools effectively free in these kits.

(Note the clearance price tags are above the LXT trimmers, the XGTs are on a different shelf.)

Check yours for similar deals if you're not in the area.
