HKS hi-flow 60mm Catted Front Pipe

Has anyone installed a catted front pipe with everything else stock on a +22 BRZ/86? I am curious if you notice any sound and/or performance gains. Ultimately, I would pair this front pipe with a catback or axle back .

Wondering if there is value installing it now in the mean time.

According to HKS, this front pipe:

Even with the catalyzer, it achieved 30 % greater flow capacity at the flow rate of 150L/s compared to stock during the flow bench testing.

Advice/Suggestion for buying

I have a question or suggestions to ask regarding BRZ, does anyone here regretted to buy brz as your only single car, like its not good for long drives, too noisy, less space, only fun for few months than boring etc.

Or any suggestion while considering brz/gr86 to buy in Japan.

Thank you in advance.

Repairs Before/After

After a nasty incident during damp conditions, my brand new BRZ took some damage to the rear bumper and rear right wheel. I’ve gotten the bumper replaced by a bodyshop, and I think it looks pretty great. Just like nee. Slight fit issue on the right side where the bumper meets the fender but they said they’d take care of it and to just stop by.

Overall, I highly recommend Cho’s Auto Body Shop if you’re in the Southwest Houston area. Young runs a great shop and was very open to working with me. Next up is replacing the wheel.

Advise

Hello everyone
I have been looking towards owning a BRZ for the last 2 months
I like it more than the GR86 in terms of looks and rarity
The only thing that’s “scaring” me is the fact that it’s a manual
I have got a manual driving license but since then I have only been driving automatic cars for the last 3 years
Owned a BMW F30 320d and KIA Rio and both were automatic
I’m afraid that I might do something wrong with this car although I really want to have a manual
Did anyone here switched from auto to manual after a long time?
How was it?

(Yo thank you everyone for your comments I really love the community here!
Will get a BRZ and post here asap 🤝)

"That's a Subaru?!"

Easily the most common response I have gotten so far. It's kind of fun how many people have never even heard of a BRZ.

Clutch bite feel improved dramatically after topping clutch fluid

I’ve had my car for about 12k miles. I think I’ve gotten pretty good with driving manual and heel toe especially. My problem is that I still continued to randomly stall the car every now and then. Almost like my clutch bite was muscle memory but was occasionally very wrong. I had the dealer top off the clutch fluid and the bite improved tremendously. For as long as I can remember my fluid was basically 3/4ths full. Topping it off truly helped with consistently launching the car in that margin where you don’t get wheel spin or bog the engine. Did my research this weekend in Malibu

PSA: If you are trying to sell anything BRZ related on Facebook

These mofos don't understand the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" saying. If you search "brz" it will go to "braz" try explaining that to your partner lol. If selling anything probably just add GR86.

Where are my Forza Horizon 6 players?

Got early access to Forza Horizon 6 and let me tell you, this game is BEAUTIFUL. The 2022 BRZ in game has all the STi aero parts including the STi wing or lip spoiler. Gave mine the Series.Yellow paint to match the one in my garage.

The photo mode in this game is absolutely wild.

Who needs a front plate anyway

Anyone in CA get shit for no front plate? I love the BRZ front end except for that god awful plate integrated plate bracket thing. Bumper plugs coming soon. Maybe a plate relocation kit too. 🤔

Took delivery yesterday!

Immediate thoughts:

The ride is supple on the hitachi dampers. I haven't driven any other GR86/BRZ equivalent to compare.

It's an easy comfortable ride. Clutch and shifter feels good.

Steering response is direct. It is on the lighter side.

It's quiet. Can't wait to put an exhaust. Thinking HKS spec L2 paired with the HKS front pipe. 🤔

I love the interior especially against the yellow accents.

Kept the RPMs below 3,500. Can't wait to get over the break in and really get the sense of what the car is about.

I drove the car straight to the ppf shop from the dealer. It'll be there for a few days. PPF'ing 2/3 of the car and ceramic coating. I intend to do some cosmetic design as well.

Can't wait to get it back!

Brembo Racing rotor and pad combination release for GR86 (PP) ZN8, BRZ (ts) ZD8

Brembo Racing has released both a new rotor and a new pad compound for the GR86 with Performance Package. I've ordered a combined set for the ZN8 to evaluate on track locally at Thunderhill and will follow up with the results from that testing later this month.

GR86 (base) calipers have a complete rotor set available but no pads yet, unless the sub is interested.

This should help alleviate pad deposit "warping" issues with most rotors on the ZN8/ZD8 twins.

----------------------------

Highly resistant to pad deposits ("rotor warping") and uneven wear due to the hardened high carbon rotor face and slots. Brembo's TY3L slot pattern fully clears the braking annulus and pad surface to maintain nearly perfectly even wear and consistent performance on track.

2-3x extended life compared to typical track pads + generic rotor combinations popular on all platforms, when using combined TY3L Sports rotors and TS20 compound.
-----------------------------

Full rotor set, ZN8 (PP): $945.00 ^(-10% $850.50)
Full pad set, ZN8 (PP): $648.00 ^(-10% $583.00)
ZN8 (PP) complete: $1594.00 ^(-10%) ^($1434.00)

Full rotor set, ZN8 (base): $472.00 ^(-10% $424.00)

>10% discount code specific to r/GR86: ADOPTZN8TS20

Discount applies to full F/R sets of pads, rotors, or both.

Compared to the standard MX72 pad and generic rotor combination I see on almost all ZN8s, the pad and rotor life are 2-3x longer. Zero pad deposits or "rotor warping" after a 3-day track weekend at 300°C, total wear 5% with 3800lbs NISMO Z33 fully into ABS on 200TW.

I previously posted about the TS20 compound, which is a no noise, low dust, single-solution track pad. The pricing here is for a combined pad and rotor set.

Bumper swap question

Hi cousins,
I have a BRZ ts and I’m looking to get a gr86 bumper for it I’ve got a few questions

  1. Are the factory paints the same I have my Brz in red

  2. These cars are essentially the same right , so the bumper should be “plug n’ play”?

  3. Where should I look for one… if anyone has done these around how much was it

Thank you 🙏

JDL UEL Header rubbage

2023 Subaru BRZ AT just installed new JDL UEL Catted headers the other day and it sounds great with my MAPerformance catback. However I was getting this weird rattling coming from the headers. Turns out the header is in contact with the metal splash shield. The header is winning the rub war but it is aluminum and also lost its sacrificial ceramic coating layer.

Crazyy MPG's

Wanted to see just how high I could get the MPG's. Babied the car the whole way. (Nothing but back roads). I was very surprised I got almost 40 to the gallon

Edit: People think I was lugging the engine to get this mileage but I wasnt. Shifted around 3k RPMs and drove between 55mph and 65mph which keeps the engine well above 2k RPMs
