Honeywell Home Smart Thermo Died

I have this unit in my hallway:

https://manuals.plus/honeywell-home/honeywell-home-rcht9610wfw2004-smart-thermostat-installation-guide

Today the screen turned off and I haven't been able to revive it. I've checked the breakers and they haven't been tripped. Took the unit off the wall and it doesn't look like there're any bad connections or corrosion. Ran through all the troubleshooting steps in the manual. Just seems to be broken.

This unit is only four years old. Weird that it died so soon. So questions:

* Anything else I should try to revive this unit that wouldn't be in the manual?

* Do I need this exact model? When I search for it specifically, I'm getting a mix of model numbers back. Are there a bunch of them that are compatible with the same wall mount/pins?

* If so, best place to order one?

* Any pitfalls I should be aware of putting a new one in?

Thanks!

Can I turn this unused green into a C wire for AC (Nest thermostat)

Seems sparstically (usually when we lose power to storms) my nest thermostat decides it want to all of a sudden be charged.

I noticed That there is an unused green wire not hooked to anything. Its snipped at the thermostat. down by my boiler the same green wire is snipped. Is there a way to connect that green wire to make it function as a C wire...?

It would really improve the function of the thermostat (even a non nest thermostat) which is why I'm deciding to post here...

Thanks in advance.

Honeywell T6 thermostat

My thermostat is not connecting to the WiFi. I have tried everything, used the app, etc and nothing is working, causing the temperature to increase with the temperature outside. I was somehow able to manage to get it back down from 84. When I try and set up the wifi it doesn’t let me click the WiFi symbol, or select a network, hold down for 5 seconds, etc. Any advice is helpful. P.S: technology is not my thing so please use simple terms and be kind lol

Help again pt 2

For some reason I’m not allowed to post images on my previous post. So I’ll try again.

Hi all!

We are looking for recommendations for thermostats. We’ve tried Nest before and weren’t fans. We want something that is low tech and doesn’t require the need for WiFi. We have a 1200sf condo that gets a ton of sun so cooling is important. But we have also have freezing summers. Any suggestions? We currently have these old school thermostats and they’re hard wired in.

AC won’t shutoff once at/past set cooling temp.

I live in an apartment and have a Braeburn thermostat, pictured here. I have the temperature set to cool to 76 but the ac unit is actively cooling my apartment lower than the set temperature and I have to keep manually shutting it off. I’ve cycled it on/off, pressed the reset button, took the batteries out and even reset the breaker that’s on the air intake panel. Took a picture of the back of the thermostat and where it is connected to the wall if that’s of any use.

The thermostat definitely recognizes the current temp of my room but for whatever reason it’s not telling the AC unit to automatically turn on/off anymore when the temp fluctuates.

Help taking thermostat off wall

Amazon Smart Thermostat

There is a message at the top of my Alexa app that will not go away:

Temperature sensors will be available within 24 hours. Your thermostat firmware is being updated automati...

I first noticed it 3 days ago, and this was shortly after my AC system had been serviced.

Any ideas what do I need to do to clear the message and ensure that the firmware has been updated?

Stumped On Wireless Thermostat

Here’s one. I can’t figure out why this thermostat keeps disconnecting from the brain on the unit. Randomly disconnects and shuts off AC. It connects right away when I do the linking process, but it takes some fiddling to get it to kick the condenser and fan back on, like spamming new signals to get it to register.

Customer is fine with switching back to a hardwired thermostat instead of the wireless if needed, but I wanted to check if it’s an easy fix first. Batteries? Some kind of signal interference?

Appreciate any help!

Zone valve not closing

Ok, so, I have a thermostat that controls a zone Valve on a radiator. Yesterday I turned the heat on for the first time this season. I turned the thermostat to 20c and the heat came on. I then lowered the thermostat to 10c and the valve stayed open. I removed the zone valve to made sure the valve turns freely and then I replaced the zone valve. Unfortunately the zone still isn’t closing.

Ps the thermostat was replaced last year.

Need help wiring nest 4 thermostat

Hi all ! Recently purchased a nest 4 thermostat to replace my old one.

I have central electric heating air duct forced furnace + heat pump cooling outside.

I used to have a Emerson 1f80 and when I put heating mode with 3-4 degrees higher than room temperature the furnace would kick in stage 2 heating and it warmed the house really fast.

There was a physical jumper between RC and RH

And w1 and w2/aux on my old thermostat

I installed the nest 4 yesterday with the white going w1, no heating at night and this morning I tried the white in w2/aux and no heating as well.

I did not physically jump the RC to RH on the nest because I listened to chatgpt and I didn't want to break the new nest 4 by jumping wires.

What should I do ?

Question for Honeywell X8S users

I noticed long ago that when my X8S is set to dual mode and the AC kicks on, if it's displaying a temperature and is cooling to the same temperature (in my case the thermostat reads 73º and it's cooling to 73º) it doesn't bother displaying the snowflake behind the large temperature display in cooling mode.

Just one of those things, I thought, but the demo thermostats at Home Depot and Lowe's do, but they're also running special demo unit firmware.

So if you have one and you see it clicking on to maintain your temperature, do you see the big snowflake icon behind your temperature as the AC kicks on to maintain temperature?

Dumbest smart thermostat with logging?

I have been looking for a thermostat that has logging capabilities, I don't change the temp constantly, I don't need to check/change the temp from my phone, I don't need zone monitoring or control, I don't need occupancy awareness.

I just want to log how long the heat/air con runs for a couple reasons, so for my uses the other things are added cost and complexity.

Any suggestions? Or am I better off getting one of the big name ones are dealing with the added fat I don't need?

WiFi thermostat that can run on a timer

Are there any thermostats that can run on a timer whenever I want it to run?

For example, I want to turn it on and have it run for 10 min regardless of what temp it reaches. Have it turn off for a set time like 40 min. Turn on and run for 10min etc.

Is this something Alexa or Siri can do?

My current one has schedules where I set a temp at a time etc but it’s not great. I want it to be spontaneous. Today I might want to turn it on at 705pm but tomorrow decide not to have it on or turn it on at 923pm etc.

Edit: I think I found what I need. Ecobee has options for compressor min cycle off and on time. And it has heat differential temp. Not exactly what I need but basically I want my run times to be longer and off times to be longer.
