Labor Day sale discount not valid?

Backstory: I was a Cox Homelife customer, and with their merger they announced the EOL for their alarm division in October. They offered the SimpliSafe bundle for $25, so I purchased that and set it up. I want to purchase an additional sensor, key fob, etc. and in the App and their website there is a banner stating a Labor Day sale for 40% off using code SAVEHW40. I have tried the code in the App and web and get an error that it is no longer valid.

I started a chat session with them this morning and it is annoyingly slow to get an answer, and the response was that "the discount is not currently active" despite sending them a screenshot as requested. I'm within the first thirty days of using the service, still in practice mode, and am frustrated with this. Will this be an ongoing issue? Just frustrated and venting while I consider my options.

Reviews Scaring Me

Just bought a place with existing Simplisafe system. I was just going to continue with the simplisafe system, but the reviews from this subreddit don't look promising...

Is it something that just gets occasional bad reviews like all products do, or is it truly something that has gone to shit and I should consider alternatives?

If not simplisafe, what other system should I consider? ADT? Ring? Would really appreciate any tips!

Poor Connectivity on many devices

So a bunch of my devices are now showing poor connectivity. I tried all the troubleshooting steps to no avail. What’s interesting is devices right near the base station, such as the dining room motion sensor are reporting poor connectivity, and I have smoke detectors upstairs very far away from the base station with no issues. There’s no common factor in what has poor connectivity, from what I can tell. Does anyone have any ideas? I’ve already tried replacing the batteries in some of them, even though they show good battery life.

ADT problems, please help

I just bought a house and it had an adt panel installed. Its disconnected and no one is paying for it. It started beeping when i changed the wifi service. I tapped the screen, it stopped, haven't thought anything of it since. Today the device managed to arm itself. I do not have the disarm code. The company is unreachable, and i am currently locked inside my own house with 4 dogs.

What are my options? I have tried to call 7 or 8 numbers for ADT and none are answering and several are disconnected. If I remove it from the power source and disconnect the internal battery, will that disarm my house? I don't want the alarm to go off because the beeping alone is already freaking out my dogs.

Thank you for any help, i am very very stressed right now

Do NOT buy a Simplisafe. Support has completely tanked.

I have 2 Simplisafe systems. One of them works perfectly (hence the reason why I purchased the second). I had called support in the past and it was a good experience. Something has definitely changed because support now barely speaks English.

My second system simply does not work. It is not an internet issue - best I can tell is that it’s a configuration issue. For example, I will ONLY receive alerts when it’s armed but never alerts when it’s disarmed. You can see this in the timeline. No test signal is being received by the base station.

I called twice. The first tech was nice, acknowledged the issue and rebooted. It worked for 2 days after that. The second lady I spoke to was very rude. She kept saying that there was “nothing wrong” and that the timeline showed it was working perfectly all along, it was just disconnected from WiFi” (it clearly showed it was connected). It was weird being gaslighted over a tech product.

Each time I have called, they have asked me to physically reboot and I live an hour away (it’s monitoring for my elderly relative). Each call takes approximately 30 min to even reach a tech.

I called and canceled today. Do NOT go through the frustration I experienced.

Lack of Support

I'm pretty disappointed with Simplisafe's technical support. Correction - Very disappointed. I called tech support because I can't get my door and window sensors to stop making noise (two-toned beep) every time I open one of the windows or doors. I tried every suggestion I could find, then called for help.

The tier 1 support did what they could (which I'd already done), then punted to their tier 2 technicians. I was told I would receive a call within 30 minutes. I didn't. I did get an email from a tech asking when a good time to call was. I answered, and have heard nothing since, despite two follow up emails and an online chat.

Would someone from Simplisafe like to explain that?

False fire alarms from downstairs detector

So what causes a false fire alarm to be triggered? I updated my old SimpliSafe smoke alarms a few years ago when the combined smoke and carbon monoxide alarms came out.

Since then we've had two false fire alarms triggered on the downstairs unit. Once, we were out at dinner, and when I looked at the cameras, I didn't see any smoke or any issues, so we canceled that alarm. After talking to the tech, they suggested cleaning it with the vacuum cleaner, which we did.

Last night at midnight, there was another false fire alarm, and as soon as I got up there was no smoke, nothing, so we cancelled that as well.

Perhaps I haven't cleaned it right. Or is it a faulty unit?

App missing

Just purchased a system and went to get the app...but the app doesn't exist in the Play Store, and all their links on the Simplisafe website don't work. Where the hell am I supposed to get it then??

(False) poor connection alert?

Got promoted that a camera has poor connection. But after running a test, things seem fine? What options exist other than remove-then-readd?

Thanks!

Anyone else suffering from chronic camera connectivity issues?

This is the message I get about 60% of the time when I try to view my cameras. Doorbell camera ALWAYS works. but the others have this intermittent issue. I’ve played with my router settings, repaired the devices, restarted modems, changed passwords, and tested wireless range. I have a small house so they are all really close to the router.

I’ve contacted support and they just tell me to repair the camera. When I tell them I’ve done it before they look in my history and see that it’s been more than 30 days and to try it again. When I repair it, it fixes it for a few days. But also if I do nothing it will just start working again on it’s own….

Any advice is appreciated.

Smoke detector issues

We have had a history of SimpliSafe smoke detector false alarms. I clean them about monthly, which has helped but not completely. Today we had an odd issue where one of the smoke alarms went off and triggered the base station & monitoring. 4 minutes later the base station triggered another monitoring alarm but the smoke detector did not go off. Reset that. A few minutes later the smoke detector alarm sounded but the base station did not. We also have wired smoke detectors (not monitored) that are cleaned on the same schedule and we have not had false alarms from those. So my question is: why would the base station not be triggered when the detector alarmed? The base station is less than 10 feet from that particular detector. The only reason we have Simplisafe is for monitoring wireless smoke detectors.

TL;DR rant: I called SimpliSafe support and explained the situation. The specialist wanted to talk about my entry sensors that were not connected (me: "not related"), the 2nd floor smoke detector that was not connected ("too many false alarms, took it down"), and that today's problematic smoke detector was not connected ("no other way to stop the false alarms"). When I tried again to get him back to my question posted above, he hung up on me.

simplisafe siren somehow triggered

hi friends,

my household currently uses SimpliSafe and our siren has gone off twice in the last month or so, one at around 6am, the other at 4:30am.

the app shows that nothing was triggered. every single device has great battery health.

since this happens literally during REM sleep, i have only ever heard the pure siren go off, not the countdown that usually happens when coming home and opening the door. it is the worst thing to wake up to.

the first time this happened a few weeks ago, i was on the phone with a service representative for around an hour, just to get a "we don't know why this happened" response. nothing was to be found on their end even when i had given the serial number of our base station. they offered sending a new smoke detector, but why would we need that if we don't know what triggered the siren in the first place?

sibling and i have read posts stating that potential dust, bugs/ants, house settling, etc etc can trigger the alarm system, but it seems almost outlandish to have a touchy system that does not show what sensor was triggered on the app.

another note: the one time we did accidentally trigger the siren, a service representative/ automated voice system called us confirming our safe word and asking if authorities needed to be dispatched... that has not happened these last two siren triggers.

if anyone has any recent insight as to why this would’ve happened, especially twice by now, please help me out. we are considering scrapping our entire system and switching to ADP or whatever else so that we don't have to worry about this happening again.

thanks :,)

Wireless Interference

Anyone also having “wireless interference” notifications in the last hour ? My SS3 system has sent me over 100 notifications stating there’s wireless interference and back to back “your system is communicating normally..” ALL is fine , I tried to disarm and rearm the alarm and it just keeps going in this interference/ no interference loop… nothing different or unusual at home or with surrounding neighbors etc - is this a glitch or precursor to defective base station perhaps ? Thank you for any feedback and help.

Was there ever an Activity history

(Door open/close, panel access, motion sensor triggered, etc. I may have read it was beta then they pulled it. I feel it’s such a needed feature and they chose not do it. It cant be that difficult to implement right?

iPhone Notification Issue

I recently installed the Simplisafe Video Doorbell and it works fine. However, when someone rings the doorbell and we are not in our home, we are not getting a sound with the banner notification on our iphones to alert us that someone is at the door. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, is there a fix? We previously had a Ring Video Doorbell and we got sounds with the notifications every time. Thanks.
