Tool advice please

Tool advice please

I have one 250mm pliers wrench, first and only knipex product I own. It’s great.

I want more but haven’t quite got the budget for massive walls of German tools to sit around and look pretty, so what stuff to you all use/justify on a daily basis?

I mainly do DIY, basic fabrication, bikes, car maintenance and bolt on mods, nothing crazy. Specific model codes please.

Next...

Recently I discovered Knipex pliers. I ordered the smallest one for edc and LOVE it. It is probably useful for pulling ticks, hair, boogers, small stuff.

What is a decent step above? Not something to open a fire hydrant, but something hefty in the hand, something for edc, maybe about 10 inches plus or minus...

Finally finished the pliers drawer

As a mobile/traveling bicycle and DH mechanic, I’ve spent a long time narrowing down my daily carry of pliers & cutters to find an efficient setup, and this collection pretty much nails it 👌🏼

KNIPEX Twingrip Front and Side Gripping Pliers Pliers 82 01 200 SB

Ordered these off Amazon and what arrives looks nothing like the photos in terms of quality and finish. It didn’t arrive in a box, it arrived in open packaging - maybe a blister pack?

Here is an image of the listing and the bag I got. Are they fake?

Any opinions appreciated

Thanks!

I think the transition is fully complete

When I first started out, I had Klein or Channel Lock for everything. After reading the praise for the Cobras everywhere, I decided to give them a try and somehow even despite the sheer volume and rate of praise they got they managed to be even better than I expected. Then I got my first pliers wrench and had the same experience.

Since then, I've been slowly adding/replacing almost all my hand tools with Knipex and haven't been disappointed a single time. Feels like one of the few brands that still takes pride in making excellent tools that are built to be passed down, and while they're on the pricier side of the spectrum they're worth every penny because I know that as long as I don't neglect them that they won't just be great tools for me, but for kids as well.

The high leverage wire cutters were my dad's, I'm assuming they were the ones from the MAC tools truck and not a day younger than 20 years old, still cut like they're brand new!

Kleine Trophäe für Kumpel - frischer SHK Meister

Moin zusammen!

Das Ding hab ich heute bei der Bullenhitze "mal fix nebenbei" für meinen besten Kumpel zusammen geschustert.

Ist nicht perfekt gerade geworden, war aber auch nicht so einfach das in Position zu halten beim schweißen haha

Bin mal gespannt was ihr dazu sagt!

Do they make any type of soft jaws for the 86-02-180 plier wrench?

Was curious if they made a jaw cover of some sort for this specific brand. I am aware they have a soft grip jaw specialty tool but if they have some covers for something like this it will definitely be cheaper!

When the mission is almost impossible

The rivets in the folding bed were definitely not made of aluminum. Diameter about 5 mm. The instrument is expensive, of course, but overall it fulfilled its mission. It's unlikely that anyone else could have coped. Upd. It was necessary to remove the rivets without dust and noise.

I love it when I have everything I need.

In general, I like to fix everything at home myself, and on top of that I’m a perfectionist. Once upon a time, I learned what quality is, and then I understood what it means. And then, later, I fell in love with instruments and became a toolaholic.

And this is not curable))))

But in my opinion, it’s better than an addiction to games/alcohol/smoking/etc.)

(Sorry, I re-uploaded it because the photo was displayed in poor quality)

Electrical maintenance in a he11hole

I'm electrical maintenance in a very high volume pork slaughterhouse/processing/storage/shipping facility. Takes a certain type of person and tools to do this job reliably.

Grateful to have these. Especially when it has a a chrome finish. Rust destroys everything here. Fyi the only pieces supplied by my workplace are the drivers that aren't Knipex. Bought everything else.

Dressed up the little one

In general, I understand that this is temporary. Because over time, and the more actively you use them or just carry them in your pocket, the heat-shrink handles fall off... Unfortunately. But in general it's normal.

Twin grips to the rescue.

Damn, I love these. I don’t use them often but came in clutch on some “security” screws.
