Activity tracker for your practice

Hello everyone!
I wanted to ask people if they like tracking their practice with any of the wearables available on the market. I have been using my Apple Watch, but it’s very bulky and uncomfortable in many asanas (one for all, garbha pindasana).

So I’d been looking into smart rings for a few months, and decided on a oura ring 5. I generally like its sleek and thin design, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem able to track the hear rate automatically during my practice. The oura support said it’s likely due to hand movements and the instability on the sensors.

I’m looking for some guidance and thoughts on this.

Thank you!

Automatically detected activity not showing heart rate

I bought a new oura 5 last week for my yoga practice and I was hoping to get some feedback from some fellow yoga practitioners using the ring to track their workouts.

I don’t have real issues but one: no matter which finger I have my ring on, my practice will be automatically detected, but without heart rate. At first I thought it was a size problem, but the smaller size wouldn’t even fit any of my fingers. Then, I tried swapping fingers, but I would get the same results. The heart rate will be instead tracked if I manually start a live activity.

Is it expected to happen? Does anybody have any insight on this? The support hasn’t been too much of help on this to be honest, so I was curious to hear other users’ thoughts and experiences on this.

Oura 5 workout automatic detection

I just bought an Oura 5 and can’t not love his design and sleek design. I primarily use the ring for two things: sleep/general health tracking and my yoga practice.

I am not really encountering any major issue except one: the ring detects my workouts, but the automatic tracking NEVER records my heart rate. I tried switching fingers (middle/index) to test if it is a size issue, but the result doesn’t really change. The heart rate gets recorded only when I start a live activity manually from the app.

My question is: does this happen to other people too? Even with RingConn 3? I’d like to hear what people think about this — it’s not a major issue, but if people have seen ringconn is better on this, I would consider swapping them as I am still in the returning window.

Thanks!
