PT Leave

Hi, I am a part-time flex employee and have been working with hannaford. I just took an LOA and recently went back. I just informed my manager ahead that I would not be available for 6 days next month for an important event. He informed that I would just have to fill a form and submit so he can check. I was just bothered and want to know if this was ok since we cannot postpone this.

Surrender Green Card: Lost Depressed, and Frustrated

I am blessed to be given the opportunity to fly to the U.S (Maine) last June 2024 after many years of waiting from our parents petition. I was happy as it was a whole new experience for me at the same time reconnect with relatives who I have not seen in years. I left my partner of 11 years and our 6 rescued dogs in the Philippines and agreed that I would visit him for 4-6 mos every year. We initially planned for me to stay up until I get my citizenship.

Now on my 3rd year here in the States, I have a lot of realizations:

  1. My partner has a flourishing career as a specialist doctor in the Philippines and blessed to have built 2 properties there. Pretty much we were doing fine. Having him live here is already out of the question.

  2. Both my parents (dual citizen) are retiring this year and plans to stay in the Philippines temporarily for 6 mos. They have their own retirement home. I would wish for them to stay longer in their home country as cost of living and medical costs are way cheaper.

  3. Me being away from my partner and dogs has taken a toll on my mental health. I’m already in my 40’s and we’ve been in several long distance situation in the 11 years that we were together. Now, I just really want to settle down with him.

  4. Both my siblings could not fly here since they were already married and had kids when our petition was approved. I feel so lonely and have since struggled with finding connections as an introvert.

I really appreciate efforts made my parents to process our petition and I’m planning on telling them next year that I will be staying in the Philippines for good. I really did my best in living here but my family is not here and things just don’t align with my goals. Appreciate your thoughts on this.
