First-Time Franchise Investor Looking for Honest Advice

Hi everyone,

I've been looking at a few franchise opportunities recently and, honestly, I'm feeling both interested and nervous.

I have the money to invest, but I've never owned a business before, let alone a franchise. Every franchise company seems to promise good returns, strong support and a proven business model, but when it's your own savings on the line, it's hard to know what's real and what's just marketing.

For those who have actually bought a franchise, was it worth it?

What are the things you wish you had checked before investing? Were there any surprises after opening? Did the franchisor provide the support they promised? How long did it take before you felt confident that the business would work?

I also keep wondering whether franchises are genuinely profitable for most owners or whether only a small percentage do well while the rest struggle quietly.

If you were in my position today, looking at franchise opportunities for the first time, what would you pay the most attention to? And what would be the biggest red flags that would make you walk away?

I'd really appreciate hearing both success stories and bad experiences. I'm trying to learn as much as possible before making a decision that involves a significant investment.

Thanks in advance.
