Is a company-operated franchise model the future for busy professionals?
I'm one of the founders of a salon chain that's expanding across India, and we've been debating something internally.
A lot of professionals want to own a business, but very few have the time to actually run one. Between hiring staff, handling operations, marketing, vendor management, and customer issues, it quickly becomes a second full-time job.
So we're experimenting with a different approach.
The idea is that the franchise owner provides the capital and owns the outlet, while the company manages the day to day operations through a centralized team. The owner gets regular reports, visibility into performance, and remains the business owner without having to be physically present every day.
I'm not saying this model is perfect. It still has challenges around incentives, transparency, and execution.
I'm genuinely curious:
* Would you consider investing in a franchise if the company handled operations?
* What would make you trust or distrust such a model?
* If you've invested in a franchise before, what was your biggest pain point?
I'm looking for honest feedback from people who have either owned a franchise or seriously considered buying one. The goal is to build a better model, not just sell more franchises.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
