Trying to figure out what sort of wall socket this is
Question in the title
Breakdown of what I do know.
- Wall socket has 8 contact pins
- Cable jack has 8 contact pins with 4 connecting wires
- To my knowledge, the cable is an RJ45 (it’s previous use was for security cameras if that changes context at all)
- The cable jack is too wide for the socket
Things I do not know yet:
- It’s previous use (in a rental so I need to verify with landlord about previous use)
- Is it powered (would like to exhaust all options before going out and buying another cable just to test one thing)
Answers I don’t have access to:
- Is it connected / Where it leads to (I am unable to access the part of the house that it would be connected to)
One one hand, it could be an Ethernet port that just has a really weird socket, it could be a cable that has a really weird jack, or it could just not be an Ethernet port at all
