Did I Take a Good Setup Here? Macro → MSS → Retest

Did I Take a Good Setup Here? Macro → MSS → Retest

Sharing an NQ trade for review and looking for feedback on my execution.

Instrument: NQ
Timeframe: 1 minute
Session: New York

I waited for the Macro before looking for an entry. During the Macro, price produced a clear MSS with displacement, which gave me confirmation of the directional move.

I didn’t enter immediately after the MSS. I waited for price to retrace back into the displacement area and entered on the retest.

My execution sequence:
Macro → MSS → Displacement → Retest → Entry

My invalidation was below/above the structure that created the MSS, rather than entering without a defined stop.

I’m trying to focus on executing a repeatable sequence instead of predicting where price will go.

Looking for feedback specifically on the MSS and entry: would you consider the structure shift valid here, and was the retest a reasonable entry according to ICT concepts?

Title: Been learning ICT for 8 months, but I still can’t become consistent. What am I doing wrong?

I’ve been studying ICT for around 8 months now, and at this point I feel like I know most of the theory almost by heart.

Liquidity, displacement, FVGs, order blocks, market structure, premium/discount, sessions, and so on. My head is completely full of information.

But as soon as I sit down in front of the chart, the problems start.

I can analyze the market forever. I always find another reason why price could go up or down, and the more I analyze, the more uncertain I become.

I’m currently trading only on a demo account because I want to become consistent before risking real money.

My biggest problem is this:

While the market is moving live, I often don’t see the entry. Only afterwards, when I look back at the chart, I think: “That was such an obvious setup.”

In replay mode or on historical charts, everything suddenly looks logical and easy. Live trading feels completely different.

I’m starting to think that maybe I’ve learned too much and now I don’t have a clear decision-making process anymore.

Has anyone here gone through the same phase?

How did you get out of this analysis paralysis?

Should I simplify ICT completely and trade only one specific setup?

Or would you recommend spending a few months only backtesting/replaying and documenting every entry according to strict rules?

I’m not looking for quick money or guru promises. I simply want to learn how to turn all this theory into a clear, repeatable trading process.

If anyone here trades ICT consistently or has already gone through this stage, I’d really appreciate any advice.
