Looking for family friendly activities

Hello, people of Edinburgh!

My wife and I fell in love with your beautiful city years ago, and we've been visiting every year ever since.

Two years ago, we brought our then five-year-old son with us and ran into a few minor inconveniences, such as not being allowed into some pubs for a meal because of his age. That was entirely my fault, as I hadn't done my research beforehand.

This year, we're heading back to Edinburgh for a week, followed by another week in Aberdour. This time we'll be travelling with our seven-year-old son and our three-year-old daughter.

We've already planned a few activities we've enjoyed before, such as hiking up Arthur's Seat, taking a stroll from Dean Village to Leith, visiting the zoo, and exploring the Museum of Illusions.

We'd really appreciate any recommendations for family-friendly activities and restaurants that might otherwise fly under the radar.

One thing we'd all especially love to do is take a short boat tour from Edinburgh to admire the stunning coastline.

Thank you all so much in advance!
