How would you spend 4–5 days before a week in Trieste?

I’ll be in Trieste for work for a week in early November and have 4–5 days beforehand to travel.

I’m considering a few options around northern Italy/Slovenia — Venice, Padua, Bologna, Ljubljana — or going a bit farther to somewhere like Lucca/Tuscany before heading to Trieste.

I’d prefer not to cram too many cities in and would rather spend enough time in places to actually enjoy them.

If you had 4–5 days before a week in Trieste, where would you go and how would you divide the time?

Beautiful spots with golden gate view + less wind?

Planning to propose to my gf in about a month. I’d love to have the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, but I’m worried about the wind and crowds.
Looking for a spot that’s beautiful, not too exposed. Any recommendations or hidden gems? Thanks!

Edit: open to other spots in the city too

Lassen / Shasta / Crater Lake - what are the spots I shouldn’t miss?

My gf and I are doing a road trip (5 days) from Sacramento through Lassen, Shasta and Crater Lake. Neither of us has been to any of these places before. Would love to find out some of the spots, food stops, swims, viewpoints, random detours, etc. that you’d tell us not to miss?

We just moved to Sacramento, and this is our first road trip around. Going end of June.

Thank you :)
