I have an Intel Core i7-7740X (4 Core // 4.10GHz) paired with 32GB RAM and a 1080ti GPU.

It has somehow performed rather well over the years, played the Dark Souls Trilogy, Deep Rock Galactic, and even low settings VR without much issue, so I haven't truly felt the need to upgrade.

Now, however, I've been wanting to improve my VR experience and play modded Elden Ring, thinking it's time I should finally upgrade.

I've considered the Intel Core i9-7940X, which seems to have a good balance of price and power (14 Core // 3.10GHz) but I wonder if I'm either not going hard enough, overdoing it, or missing something else entirely.

What do you lot think?
