Komissar vs Lartigue?

Both steel ships, both hybrid cruisers, both gun focused. That's where the similarities end. One is more of a broadside hunter, the other a almost classic long range farmer.

Downsides of Komissar: short gun range, unwieldy, extremely frail. Lartigue has none of these issues. Lartigue's issue is the nerf to fighter spotting, which wasn't compensated in any way.

It's other issue is basically being Hildebrand. People see big flight decks, people spam big flight decks. Nothing wrong about it - I do it myself. It just makes bow camping somewhat challenging, and Lartigue's kiting angles suck.

Which one would you take? I'm slightly towards Komissar, since I already own Hildebrand and "same model, different flavour" feels kinda bad to spend steel on.

I think we have a new winner when it's about "most useless consumable"

Fighter shoots at least some planes down, I guess. This does absolutely nothing. DefAA might not have been the greatest consumable, but at least it was fun on American cruisers and a few other ships.

What do you guys think about Latouche-Tréville?

Kinda hoped it would't have trash secondary dpm outside of its funny button. That funny button is quite nasty though. 60% improved pen and dispersion plus 70% better reload is a lot.

Main battery has lots of alpha but pretty meh dpm, reload time is bb levels slow at 27secs base. Doesn't look like it gets an icebreaker, making brawling bbs pretty dangerous.

Being extremely fast while having some secondary power seems like a funny combination though. And it's nice how your main battery isn't downright awful, allowing a more passive early game without feeling pressured to get in.

After leveling two handed weapons, everything else just feels bad

Nothing comes even close to the power level of my two handed bardiche. It's downright disgusting during sieges, and whenever you're fighting on foot. Like 160+ kills when getting up a ladder and behind the enemies - sick. Two handed swords are really good too. Spears and Lances feel very, very bad in comparison. Glaive is cool on horseback though, but it plays technically like a two handed weapon, just under polearm category. One handed has shields, but yeah, two handed damage just tainted me. You kill so much quicker and in way larger numbers.

Ranged weapons seem pretty lackluster on the player character aswell. Shields are a big issue, and throwing weapons have very little ammo. Both great for troops, but compared to my axe swinging maniac, my archer character just pales.

Does anybody else feel like this?

What's your guess for the next dockyard ship?

My first guess is, it will be a cruiser. Last one was Almirante Oquendo, and we had two bbs and dds since her (actually it has been 3 dds, but Lushun wasn't new).

Afaik there are three new T10 cruisers in testing, no T9s; WG seems to have given up on T8s. These T10s are Yari, Almirante Irizar and Unie. The last one is unlikely imo, because there already was a Dutch airstrike cruiser dockyard. Also we just had ZH-1 which sports airstrikes too.

So, basically it is between Yari and Irizar. My final guess: It wil be Yari. Irizar seems too over the top for a dockyard ship and could maybe show up in the summer convoy event. Yari, on the other hand, seems questionable enough to be sold for 5-6 dubs.

Shouldn't Montpelier get a little something?

Cleveland has:

  • better dpm
  • better turret angles
  • better HE shell flight times
  • 360° turrets (this is huge!)

Montpelier has:

  • 600 extra HP (insignificant)
  • 3 seconds longer radar (rather insignificant too)
  • 0.15 better sigma

The last point is the only one with some kind of value, but it's not a super strong one, since both are light cruisers. If those were bbs, it would be a fair trade - like Izumo/Bajie for example.

Points some might bring up: No, the worse shell flight times aren't an advantage to lob more easily above islands. Cleveland already can do this fine. Yes, being able to put a 21 point captain on Montpelier without retraining is nice. The 200k tax to put a 21 pointer on Cleveland isn't crazy though. At least for seasoned players.

Thoughts?

Why would anybody buy those crappy presidential trunk containers?

5% chance to get a ship and then look at the selection. Saipan, Hornet, Alabama and Constellation can be bought in the armory, if you insist on doing so.

Halford and Tulsa are available for coal, so not worth gambling for either.

(GQ) Johnston, Bridgeport and Tennessee were available for free over the last two years. Especially Johnston is a really sad pull for many, because you simply would get a duplicate if you did get the GQ.

What's left is Enterprise, Cambridge and Fort Worth. Cambridge is good, but definitely not worth trying to get with these terrible odds. Fort Worth looks like a T9 Congress with reload booster, so eh. Enterprise is a holy grail ship for some, probably that's the true bait here.

But ok, let's say you're a long term player who cleared the whole drop list except for the new ship. Gambling for it might be tempting, right? Admiral pack is hella costly after all. Yeah, might I introduce you to a pity counter of 40. Yep - 40! While most won't be that unlucky, somebody definitely will. Do you want to be that one? You could be.

And if you're going for those tea crates to get some golden whatever ship, you should probably think about consulting a therapist instead.

Was mich abstößt, ist langatmiges Schreiben.

I didn't expect anything and still was disappointed: Nottingham

Did buy her today, mostly to get her out of the way for future container-blessings by rngesus. Sure, Nottinghams dpm is ass, her citadel cringeworthy and her torp feature questionable at best. But, I said to myself, you like all forward turret designs. Maybe it will end up as one of those boats nobody likes but you ...

It didn't. It absolutely didn't. Everything good about this ship is immediately equalised by some annoyance. Like, yes, you get that all front turret setup, but you also get only 30 degree firing angles. While not bad for a ab-x or ab-xy layout, it feels pretty underwhelming for that all front turret gimmick. One might argue that point, yet it doesn't feel good after playing stuff like Collingwood and Defence, which sport 20 degree.

The torps are so hard to use (range and forward angles again), I'm close to calling them useless. I won't though, as they aren't. But man, if they had at least 10 km range, this ship could be so much more fun. Right now they are extremely situational to use and not much of an asset, despite their otherwise solid stats and impressive ammount.

The hull is bad, it does neither get British acceleration nor a super heal and even nerfed HE compared to Albemarle. Gun range is short, flight times are meh. Oh yeah, it also has zero AA. None. It's terrible.

The only undoubtedly good thing about Nottingham is its smoke and smoke fire penalty. Both helps with being useless for prolonged times. That aside, there's basically nothing positive to say about her.

It's almost a miracle how this thing is allowed in this devastatingly sad state and dodged any buffs so far. Seriously WG, please do something about her. She looks way to cool to be left in the dust.

What's the point of Poltava?

Comparing it to Sinop doesn't make sense, since both have different roles. Poltava is more of a mid-range "sniper" (it has fast shells!) with mediocre sigma, no overmatch, standard bb dispersion and no other trait, that would help that playstyle (but it has fast shells!).

Comparing it to other mid-range snipers is sad, so I won't do that either. Like imagine mentioning it and Teng She or Ashitaka in the same sentence. It's ridiculous.

A much fairer comparison is actually Strasbourg. It also has mediocre sigma, no overmatch, standard bb dispersion and no other trait that helps sniping. Except for ... fast shells. Yes. They both have those. But Strasbourg at least has a funny all front turret setup and a reload booster. Reload boosters undo a lot of bad. Otherwise this thread would be about that French thing.

So ... title?

What's the consensus about Collingwood in 2026?

I remember it having a really bad reputation some years ago. But after getting it from a SC yesterday, it doesn't seem that bad tbh. Guns are more accurate than expected and the reload booster is downright nasty. The Duke of York/ George heal is nice (and needed!) too.

Biggest con is armor. I'm neither a stranger nor a fan of T7 bbs covered in 26mm plating, but Collingwood seems to suffer a lot more from it. A Nagato sneezing in my general direction means 20k+ hp gone. Every single time.

The most stupid interaction was with an enemy Collingwood in ranked so far. We, both angled at 12 km to each other: first salvo double cits that guy; he does the same to me. Both use reload booster and double cit AGAIN. Third salvo neither of us survived and we both died first of each team.

Personally I've got mixed feelings about it. The armor issue really drags it down. Would be an excellent ship otherwise. But right now I think Rodney is much better - simply because it is so much more tanky. Despite sharing the same glass chin.
