taping fingers

Hey guys, this is my first time being injured apart from blood vessels and bruises playing volleyball and I sprained my thumb. I had to go to Minor injuries everything got scanned no broken bones or anything. I was given a splint and I was told to take off after four days and today was the fourth day so I took it off and now I’m not really sure what the next steps are for Volleyball so I was just wondering what did you guys do when you sprain your thumbs like did you tape it up afterwards? I do have some volleyball stuff lined up for next week so I’m wondering, do I need to tape it? I would just like some advice please still hurts a bit of course, but yeah, I’m just wondering for any long time volleyball players who get sprained fingers or thumb thumbs a lot. What do you do? - to preface this is not medical advice I have already followed the medical advice which is to wear the splint for four days. I am just wondering for actual volleyball players who have been through this. What did they do afterwards since I’m new to this -
