Two thriving plants but what are they?

First time posting here. London uk location. Given two little plants by a friend who has lost the label so neither of us know what they are. Potted them on three times and this is the large pot that seemed right. Can any clever Redditor help please? Thanks v much.

Second flush of roses

Top dressed my pots with Q4 fertiliser and some fresh compost as the volume had shrunk. Hungry plants the rose so mid season replenish very necessary and now the rewards are proving the technique. Normally I have followed the once in spring and autumn regime but size of plants in 30cm x 39cm pots mean extra nourishment mid season rather than relying on liquid feeding.

Calendula are so exquisite

Hadn’t looked so closely before they open and was so surprised when I did. Dead heading these beauties is key to keeping this brilliant blooms coming. Lovely on salads and quiche

Agility of the buff tailed bee is incredible

Watching these athletic bees. They are so acrobatic as they plunder each and every flower.

Today’s favourite blooms

Rose - Donnahue, maliope, Gladoli and the tiniest of all, the Tulbaghia which is called Fairy star. Can’t decide what size pot to use and thought it would stay a small plant but I saw one in a garden in west London amd it was massive?!

Blousey Hollyhock’s tulle petticoats

This hollyhock is extraordinary and lives up to its name, ‘Peaches and dreams’. The anticipation was spectacular ly rewarded. Amazed at how well it has done in a pot. Must get some bigger stakes for next time as spire was remarkably heavy . Highly recommend this belter of a plant ~ weeks of blooms despite the punishing heat but it does need a galloping water every day

It’s the the time of the roses

Dame Judy, Rachel lightly toasted by the sun, Donahue’s clusters of Devon cream and blush pink, Getrude Jekyll, and >!Desdemona’s!< deepest clusters which enthrall and the scent from them all is so deeply wonderful x

Finally it’s going Koko Loko

Bought this bare root beauty in autumn last year from Eastcroft roses and have waited until now but oh what joy! Really can’t say what colour it is but I love it even slightly toasted by the sun. Hard to keep roses hydrated in pots is a challenge. The buds are exquisite and open to a deeper colour. Just very happy to see these blooms. They seem ever so slightly uncanny.

Garden is a hotbed of activity

Harder to spot in the first photo but did you see them? Been trying to attract more butterflies and moths and delighted to see these two having the best time on the Verbena. Think small white but not certain. I see two spots I think?!

Maybe just maybe, Romanesco cauliflower in a pot

This unit of a cauli is in a relatively small grow bag but when I went to move it I realised it had rooted through the base of the pot into the ground and it is the daddy now. We have to go around it and I grew it mainly to have some veg amongst the flowers and fruits. Two types of butterfly have take an interest but the common white and Comma have so far not laid a single egg? Odd as when I planted brassicas in my allotment they were devastated by every caterpillar and slug in the district. So maybe, just maybe, we will get a head of florets? Or it will cook in 35 degree heat. Ahh 2026, what a time to be alive and gardening!! Keep yourselves and your plants hydrated folks.

White perfumed roses

Desdemona, not sure, Sugar moon and white perfumella. All are opening now and smell distinctly different but symphonic together. Keeping them in the shadier positions in the hope the blooms won’t spoil so quickly. Twilight and sunset makes white blooms ethereally and gentle solar lighting makes them glow. Great for a shadier garden.

Rachel and Emma Bridgewater competing for most delicious rose

Scent is heavenly and I can’t decide which one I love more.
