You know what's annoying?

I have two WIPs to finish, a short to get on with (I'm close to the end of it now) and another story just marches in, demanding to be told. I was a sane and normal human being until I discovered AO3. And that's it, back to scratching the irritating itch in my brain. Arghhhhh!

Possibly an odd question

This may be an odd question. I know I can restrict my works to logged in people only. I can disable commenting. But can I hide a work from everyone, logged in, registered, or not, so only I can see it?

Let me tell you for why. Back in the day I used to dabble with trying to write a novel. And I'd like to go on with that. I'm not aiming to be published or anything so formal. But I thought that if I posted chapters on AO3 for me only, it might give me the incentive to go on with it. It's an original work, so I wouldn't be hoping to getting comments or kudos. I've checked the FAQs and I can't find anything about hiding it from everyone. Thanks anyway, for reading this and scratching your head, wondering what the heck I'm on about!

I know it was problematic towards the end, but I miss the forum. You could ask anything, and someone would be bound to know the answer. I mean, for the purposes of my latest story, I need to know if it rained in Kentucky during the mid 1800's. But all I get is info about the "meat rain". Or I'd like to know how long it took to get to Kentucky from New York by steam train, and all I get are sites with ticket prices for now. *sigh* Does anyone else miss Nanowrimo?

I'm listening to one of my favourite bands, Faun. And to my surprise, they have a song called "Tamlin and the Fairy Queen". It's in German, of course, but the translation is interesting. It's about a girl called Janet who goes to the woods, dressed in green, to meet her bridegroom, Tamlin. They were happy for 7 years, until the Fairy Queen enticed Tamlin away to her kingdom. Janet goes to the Elves for help. Tamlin turns into a bear but Janet still loves him. He turns into a wolf, and Janet is still loyal. Then he turns into embers of fire. But Janet still hugs him, and that breaks the fairy spell.
