Doing a quick background check has saved me more than once
A few years ago, I would either ignore unknown callers completely or answer every call hoping it was important.
Now if a number seems suspicious or keeps calling, I usually spend a minute doing a quick background check first.
It's helped identify:
- Obvious spam callers
- Telemarketers using local numbers
- Businesses I forgot I contacted
- Legitimate callers I might have otherwise ignored
It's not perfect and the information isn't always accurate but having some context before calling back has been surprisingly useful.
