3D operations have been added to EasyShape5000 - V-Carving + Relief Maps (Flat and Rotary, including 3+1 indexed)

Hi everyone, just to say that I've finally added an experimental 3d rendering pipeline and 3d operations to EasyShape5000.
I've mostly posted about EasyTrace5000 in the past but the new app builds on the same geometry engine so it also handles analytic arcs which means proper G2 and G3 commands.

Everything should work fine and be safe but post-processor combinations, especially for 4th axis are machine setup dependent so there's a lot of user input needed and I'll need feedback to make sure things connect in a predictable way that makes sense. (UI may be a little off, been having to add a lot of new inputs so layout styling isn't 100%.)

I have since renamed the repository to EasyCAM5000 since it's two apps now and I'm planning more stuff, all sharing the same foundations. If you wanna follow development keep track of https://github.com/RicardoJCMarques/EasyCAM5000 and the change-log.

Currently I'm finishing tool-changing logic and trying to optimize vcarving (plus fixing some missing geometry). I'm expecting to commit these in the next few days.

I need all the feedback I can get, especially with post-processor/4th axis stuff. With some luck I'll update documentation on the next commit too although work-flow should feel familiar. And yes it's free and will remain free (do what y'all want with it, although more donations would help wink wink nudge nudge :3).

Could you guys send me some random 4th axis gcode files? I'm adding rotary axis operations to EasyShape5000 and need to better understand the translation layers around the post-processor.

Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of adding 3d operations to EasyShape5000 but while v-carving and regular flat relief maps are easy to manage and test I need to see how post-processors handle radial data. I've done some research but raw g-code would come in handy...

Geometry is coming out nicely

This is just a wrapped cartesian debug mode to see \"toolpaths\" coordinates in ncviewer.

I don't particularly care about what the gcode is off as I'm mostly focusing on what the post-processors are doing.

Anyone in need of free v-carving and 3d relief maps CAM?

Hey, I've been planning to extend EasyShape5000 to add 3d related operations for a while now. Things are going well but since they have historically been paid I've never done them much.

Is there anything specific I should make sure to add or something of the sort? Any spcific request? Now would be the time to add them easily without having to test if it breaks anything that was already been working previously since all 3d code is new.

v-carving

3d relief - finishing pass + skip z0

Is CAM still a problem?

Hey everyone, a few months ago I posted about a CAM tool I was working on for PCB manufacturing called EasyTrace5000.

It was meant to replace FlatCAM but as people kept using it and it kept improving I also noticed I was getting better toolpaths from it for larger flat objects than I did from Easel so for the past couple of months I've been working to add a new UI and it's own operation handlers.

https://preview.redd.it/caiffafj4tah1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6c9f03d52328e1c22ade92ad9e9171e8e106fba

Calling it EasyShape5000 felt like the right thing to do.

Only 3x operations for now, Profile, Pocket and Drilling (that inherits the same automated milling algorithms from EasyTrace5000 to mill holes larger than the selected tool) but 3d operatons like v-carving and relief maps are planned. (Might just take a bit since I'll need to implement a 3d renderer too.)

So yeah, let me know what y'all think and if something's wack post here or send me a pm or issue on github... They all go to the same recepient xD

Update about EasyTrace5000.

Hey, a few months ago I posted about a CAM tool for PCB prototyping I'd been working on called EasyTrace5000 (yadda yadda open-source). It was meant to work as FlatCAM "replacement" type thing for myself and things escalated into it being quite decent.

I've had students prefer it over other alternatives and more people have been using it, which is nice.
A little over a week ago someone bothered writting up a tutorial about making PCBs with EasyTrace5000 too.

So long story short I noticed I was getting better toolpaths from it than what Easel gave me so for the last couple of months I've been working to add another UI and more operations:

EasyShape5000 2.5-3D CAM Workspace

I figured EasyShape5000 was a reasonable name. Both apps share the same foundations and geometry system that maintains analytic arcs (which means G2/G3 commands)(it's not 100% lossless, but it's 99.99(9)% for now).

Currently there are 3x operations only, Profile, Pocket and Drilling (which inherits the same undersized tool logic)(automatically mill holes larger than tool). Work-flow is mostly identical if you've used EasyTrace5000 before but with explicit operation buckets instead of implied buckets where files were directly put into.

I do have plans to look at 3D operations around V-Carving and Relief maps but that'll take a while.

Lots to improve but it should be good (and save) enough for people to start using. (I seem to have broken tabs wiring so they aren't lifting correctly at the moment.)

Hope y'all like it.

(Also shout-out to that 1 person that sponsored me on GitHub lol)

Edit: Forgot to link to it...
